Ziggurat

Not Common Knowledge     Location: Pony Way (Pappelbon Row)     Predatory Taint: +2

Atmosphere: Simmering
These environments are waiting for the spark that will cause fights or force people to close up shop and lock their doors. Residents either take to the streets to get a feel for what is happening, drawn there by some unconscious sense of uncertainty or angst, or remain inside while feeling nervous for reasons they can’t explain. Violence is not evident yet, but it wouldn’t take much to cause it. Locals’ response to outsiders depends on the individuals; generally, the populace is unlikely to be antagonistic toward individual outsiders just for being there.

Description

The exterior structure appears to be a large worn down warehouse most likely used for storage or large machine manufacturing from Carcosa's industrial days. The building sits in the Pony Way neighborhood of Pappelbon Row where the residents know to keep their eyes down and their business to themselves. The outside brick walls are as sturdy as the day their masonry was completed, but have withered with time and have lost their vibrant red color, accepting nature browns and grays. An occasional window has been shattered, but most of the missing glass in above eye level. The exterior doors are chained shut at the handles, though as many individuals have discovered, they are barricaded well from the inside.

The only accessible door is located at the southwestern corner of the building, directly under a street light that has usually been broken out. The interior hallway that forms the outer shell of the building is filled with old painters scaffolding and is covered with either graffiti or plastic hanging from the rafters. Loose lumber and construction supplies are scattered around, giving any individual who looks through the street level windows a rather meek and dreary view.

Behind the interior doors of the warehouse's shell house all the glory of the creativity bestowed upon the Acolytes by their chosen Blood Gods. The expansive inner hull of the building holds an luxurious and calming garden, whose flora has been chosen from the most exotic plants and flowers from each region of the earth. The usual interior lighting is dim and mimics the beams of the moon that shine through the pyramid style glass top roof; and during a cloudless full moon night, the buildings lights are nearly unnoticeable. Flood lights occupy each post of the warehouse, but are very rarely ever turned on.

Hidden masterfully at the end of the garden is a grand alter, crafted from an unidentifiable stone that seems to absorb the light of the moon and shine back in an eerie glow of its own. The walls of the inner hull are lined with exquisite murals and painting that, while not pantheon specific, portray the most significant times of the year and events in history such as Equinox, Solstice, Creation, and Armageddon.
