Description

A no-nonsense bar which prides itself on being “real”, they straight up say on their door that if you’re politically correct, you’re not welcome. If you act like a dickhead, they’ll call you a shitbag idiot and toss you out.

Now, not to be confused with a biker-bar or a dive-bar, the Vortex has a 20 foot representation of a skullhead over it’s front door with hypnotically circling eyes that are alight like firebrands in the night. The clientele are an eclectic mix, masochists, bikers, thugs and prep-type mix into the atmosphere. Smoking is very much allowed and those that bitch about it are shown to the door.

The music is loud and the burgers are top-rated in Atlanta, but surrounding the den of fun and jokes sits the beleaguered Five Points, and while the building itself is pristine, the inside shows horrible marks of it’s age. And the bathrooms... well....

A card carrying member of the Vortex crew, you know the girls by name and they know you by theirs. You have no problem coming and going and interacting with the people inside, and the Vortex crew doesn’t even care if you kick someone out of the place if they’re being a dick.

Working over the night crew has it’s rewards and you’re welcome to using the place for any kind of a meeting or convention without notifying ahead of time – though you can’t close down the place. If you want to hold an amateur fight club in the parking lot and they won’t call the cops on you, but if you want more than that, well... don’t push your luck.

Uncontested

You can run the bar if you were so damn inclined when you show up. You can feed indiscriminately (that doesn’t mean you can break the Masquerade indiscriminately, though) and with the benefit that comes from drawing the amateurs and tourist crowds as well. Undisputedly, the Vortex in Five Points is your stomping ground.
