Roleplaying Casting a Ritual

Like Crúac, performing a Theban Sorcery ritual is generally not a subtle process. Unlike Crúac’s intensely primal rites, however, the practice of Theban Sorcery itself is much more controlled and precise. While individual casters have styles that diverge widely from each other, Theban Sorcery rituals tend to resemble dark, quasi-religious ceremonies on the whole. Solemn chanting, candle arrangements, mystic inscriptions and readings from ancient texts in classical languages are common themes. This is not to say that Theban Sorcery rituals are plodding, monotonous affairs — simply that what Crúac achieves through a more spontaneous ecstatic communion, Theban Sorcery achieves through rigid ritual invocation and force of will.
