Description
The Sacred Chapel of the Revelations of Vahishtael is a unimpressive and somewhat decrepit looking house on the outskirts of Decatur. The other houses in the area aren’t in a much better state, and its obvious that this part of the town has seen better days. The lot next door holds the remnants of a burned down house, and the house on the other side seems to be empty. The chapel itself stands in the shadow of a big oak tree, of which the leaves scatter the unkempt lawn. Underneath the house there is some proof of a cellar, from the dark grey concrete with tiny windows in them. Upon closer inspections the windows appear to be boarded up from inside, or sealed trough some other means.
Living Area
The living area of this small house gets its character and charm from its tudor accents. The most prominent feature is the window on the far wall. Six panes of frosted tudor style leaded glass in a diamond pattern are set into recessed moulding, which gives the room a sense of fading dignity. The furniture, while modern, follows suit in that while it is clearly well cared for, it has seen better days. The room has two comfortable sofas and matching chairs in cream suede leather, arranged in U shape, with a large coffee table in the center.
The coffee table is covered with a blood red cloth that has a large golden cross embroidered on it. On the one side, behind the chairs, hangs a painting of Longinus looking up at Christ just as the divine blood falls upon his hands. Opposite the paint there is a door, that leads to the basement. Beside the door hangs a plain cork board for messages. There are five doors in the living area. One is at the back of the house, leading towards the garden. One on the right side, leading to what probably was the kitchen once, but has been turned into a convenient office. Next to that one there is a room going to another office. On the opposite wall there is a door leading with a staircase behind it, leading down to the cellar. The walls have two lights on them, producing sufficient light to illuminate the stairs. The back door has been replaced, but not put up very well, and so has been nailed shut from both the inside and outside with boards.
The front door of the house is unlocked during the night. A mortal named Frederick Black keeps watch over the house, and opens and closes it for the night. He doesn’t speak to anyone unless addressed, and when addressed will keep conversations brief.
Chapel Area
Upon entering the cellar you step into a big dimly lit room. There are rows of simple chairs filling half of the room. The chairs are divided into three sections of seating, with two aisles running between them. At the opposite side of the room there is a altar with a cloth in various lighter and darker colours of red draped across it. On the cloth the symbol of the Lancea Sanctum is embroidered in black thread. Behind the altar a simple cross adorns the wall. Its lit from behind with a single lamp, causing the cross itself to be dark against its surroundings. The walls are mostly barren, except for two cloths hanging on either side of the chairs. On the one on left of the chairs the scene between Longinus and Vahishtael in the cave of Christ can be seen. The cloth right of the chairs displays the burning of the black abbey. On the wall right of the altar a locked door can be found.
