Description

The faded, dim neon lights of the once-glorious Masquerade billboard and sign out front of the well-worn building of the Masquerade night club says all it needs to about the state of the Masquerade and it’s patrons. Dated and a few years off style, this place attracts the weird – from people to acts.

For starters, there’s heaven and hell levels – heaven is a stage area with tables and chairs, while hell is a sticky dance floor (which is very often used for... other acts). Aged patrons, who’d be laughed out of the other, newer and hipper spots come to the Masquerade to try and get lucky, or find their favorite drugs.

Occasionally there’s live acts, most of them are second-rate rock bands, but the occasional group can’t get booked into Phillips Plaza and it’s on these nights that the Masquerade shows off just how far it’s fallen in grace.

Bouncers tend to be overly-aggressive and itching for a fight, and the drinks tend to be over-liquored to help the “questionable” clientele along towards inebriated play. A set of morals you won’t find in this club, and it’s been under investigation three times in the past ten years for it’s main attraction for date rapists...
