The sermon for tonight will be on the importance of the Fifth Canon, and the importance of Evangelizing the Faith.

Many think that the Church should wait for believers to come to it, to have them seek the knowledge on their own, to let them decide that their faith comes from an inspired and deep wellspring that they discover without the aid of others.

This is folly. Expecting a non-believer to come seek out the Church is like expecting a sheep to walk willingly to the Shears. They will never come to truly understand the faith without constant attempts and evangelization from the members of the Faithful.

In the Early Nights, Kindred walked the Earth, slaking their thirst on the Blood of mortals as they have for thousands of years. They did so in blindness, not knowing that they were doing God’s work, and as such they did it in Greed, and in their Gluttony for Blood.

Ignorance, however, pales in comparison with the heresy of those who set themselves up as Masters over the kine, as idols to them. In the 10 Commandments given to the kine by the Lord God, the first among them states “I am the Lord thy God. You will have no other gods before me.” Followed by, “You will have no idols.”

An argument can be made whether a Kindred is setting himself up as an idol or a surrogate god, but the point remains that it is a cardinal sin to lead the kine away from God’s Light. These Damned have taken the gifts given to them by God and used them to lead mortals on a path to Hell.

There are still worse, however. Far worse.

There are those of the Damned who are shamed by their curse, who feed on animals and criminals because of some misplaced sense of protection or affinity for them. They are shamed by God’s curse and their Holy Mission.

There are those among the Damned who turn against their own kind. They have some misguided notion that the kine should be protected from us, from God’s workers. These are some of the worst, for they not only ignore God’s work, but actively disrupt it.

These Damned are as lost as the kine.

Then there are, of course, the blatant heretics, those who shy from God’s work to seek other things, whether their own myriad of false gods or blasphemous science. These will all be equally cast into the pits of Hell at the End Times, but that does not mean they are beyond redemption now.

They still perform God’s Holy Work, whether they acknowledge it or not, and as such they still have a place in his Creation. They must all be shown their purpose, and we must not shrink from this duty until all have seen the Light. There is no room for cowardice on this.

The Testament of Longinus instructs us, no, /commands/ us to evangelize to our fellows. It is our sacred duty, no different from any of the others. Just as we must push the kine to Christ, so must we push the Kindred to His work.

We no longer live in the ignorance and weakness that is mortality. We are strong now. We know what must be done, and we must do it. We are God’s Right Hand. We are His Dark Soldiers.

The Kindred cannot ignore us. We have the Words of God, passed to us by the Dark Prophet.

Therefore, I command you to go to your fellow Kindred.

Preach to them the true duty. Preach to them about Longinus. Preach to them about God. Preach in Elysium. Preach in the sinful clubs they frequent. Preach at their homes, if you must.

Do not be ignored. Do not let yourself be ignored.

You are God’s dark soldier and you have the divine gifts of God at your disposal. To ignore you, to ignore the Lancea Sanctum is to ignore the Prophet, is to ignore God Himself! Let them know that they ignore the Lord God at their own peril.
