History of Sven Dahl

Before Embraced

1943

During the Tunisia Campaign, Lt. Vander Corvus sustained minor injuries during combat, becoming hospitalized for a period of time. During his stay in the local Hospital, he met a Swedish woman - Katherine Dahl, whom he began a short affair. He was recalled back to duty after he was given the all clear by the doctors, he joined his new regiment, leaving behind Katherine Dahl. Katherine Dahl accept it since he was station off to the hottest combat zone in WWII. Neither of knew that she conceived during their romantic affair.

1944

Elisabeth Dahl was born. Katherine Dahl returned back to her native country, still reeling to the devastation caused by the war and shame for aiding the Germans, her very religious catholic family shuns her because of having a child out of wedlock and barely tolerated getting them out of their sight. No one in the community would want to deal with a woman with a child born out of wedlock.

1955

Elisabeth, age 11. She huddle against a corner of the house, her mom and drunken stepfather arguing about something that she can't understand, her stepfather screaming at a pregnant Katherine "To go and fuck another pigface!" before punching Katherine down and stomps on her a few times. Elisabeth fearing for her mother rushes at her stepfather in a futile attempt to save her. Her stepfather becomes furious against Elisabeth beating her to a bloody pulp. During the beating all that Elisabeth could stare was at an old picture laying down the floor.

1964

Elisabeth age, 20. Has gain an unhealthy obsession with military boys. She has whore herself off them, pretending it is love, when in reality is just coupling. She becomes pregnant with a sailor, Georg Homin, asking him to marry her and raise the child, he refuses. When she continues to push the issue for marriage, he beat her into a miscarriage.

1969

Elisabeth age, 25. Since her last beating, it left her with a scar, both on her body and mind. She becomes obsess about her father - to the point of having incestuous dreams about him - she stow away in a transport ship with dreams about an idealized soldier waiting to take her in. During the voyage, the ship sailors discovers her during one of their frequent inspections, they can't throw her overboard since they are halfway through the ocean. Instead they share her between each other as payment for the voyage.

1970

Elisabeth age, 26. It takes sometime to heal her ordeal from the ship. However, she had made to New York, where she goes on living searching for her father. She spend a year in New york, learning how to speak English, and making a small living to support herself. She become an drug addict - thanks to the disco fever and culture revolution - a hippie.

Her life nosedive as she abuses the drugs and begins to live off the streets. During one night as she is taking some dope, she spots an article about the Corvus Clan in Upstate. She searches for the New York Corvus family residence, finding and getting an audience with them, after several days of searching. Upon their horror, they find an unwashed, doped out, poverty stricken hippie upon their midst.

Their horror become more and more as they learn of Elisabeth's heritage - a bastard of a bastard of their own. They quickly shun her, tying off relations with her, never to acknowledge her. They tell themselves that it was just a ravings of a doped out hippie. They can never be sure if what she claims is to be truth.

1974

Elisabeth age, 30. After spending a number of years on the streets, a certain Corvus, decides to take interested with the wayward child. Sofia Corvus, Sire to Vander Corvus, had decided to make the child an amusement for herself.

Secretly, she has Elisabeth performing jobs as a house maid, sometimes at night, so she can watch and order her around. It is a spiteful joke to her watching The Bastard's Bastard do as she says. And a secret never divulged to her "favorite" childe.

1979

Elisabeth age, 35. She has an small affair with another soldier who was on leave. The soldier, West Hart, has a similar appearance to her father - catching her interest - in their brief affair, she conceived.

1980

Elisabeth age, 36. She gives birth to Sven.

1985 - 1988

Sven age, 5 to 8. He has seen what people think of him and his mother, as society trash, he starts fights in school mostly out of rage and mostly of out of pride. He manipulates his classmates into doing what he wants sometimes - if not, pummel them down until they do. He continues his delinquent tendencies of beating up classmates who insults his pride.

1995

Sven age, 15. After taking out his aggression from constant taunting on classmates, Sven is scolded for his anger. He begins to listen to grunge rock and smoke pot, which he steals from his mother's stash. His mother continues be a housemaid trying to keep the family afloat in her own misguided way - yet over time, she begins to lose herself to delusions and madness. She has been taking some new drugs to calm the nerves prescribed by the doctors. Disgusted, Sven heads to the local convenient store - there he gets into a fight with a local gang member, not realizing it since he was doped out. The tables turn when the gang member's gang join the fray and send him to the hospital with several broken bones in his chest, right arm and left leg. Angry at his carelessness and disappointed in himself, he lashes out in school, trying to rebuild his shattered pride, it gets him expelled from two different schools.

1996

Sven age 16. Get arrested for selling drugs off the streets. He was earning a quick buck - but nothing lasts too long. He get paroled, but he is quickly thrown back in juvie after being caught driving without a license and underage drinking. He serves 4 months in detention, and 200 hours of community services, and unable to leave his home no more then 30 feet from the door without a parole officer.

1998

Sven age, 18. He get his GED as works in the day as stock clerk at a community grocery store. He get shot in the shoulder during a broad daylight robbery at the grocery.

1999

Sven age, 19. After getting several rejection, he had found a college willing to accept him. Barely made it into college, he thinks of the high-life, partly thanks to his mother, whose early Alzheimer has made life unbearable. She wonders around the house like a dazed, and cleaning after her, it was disgusting. It was motivation enough to push him into to college, since he didn't want to return working again. His aunt provides the funds to pay for tuition, to see how far Sven actually goes before he fails.

2003

Sven age, 23. He barely get the passing requirements for his law degree. A miracle since his partying cause him to be close to failing certain classes. However, he begins to learn the art of charming people - charming them to his need. And how the system works for his needs.

2005

Sven age, 25. Sven passes the Law school just enough decent grades that some firms would hire him. He been working during the night as a clerk for a local small time firm. His job was to just file away paper and archive them. He takes the bar exam in July, passes the exam thanks to a couple of friends, and their very helpful answers.

2006

Sven age, 26. Sven joins a local firm, turning on that charming personality, is able to get defend cases of petty mobster, con men and crooks. He gets a cut of the bribe money from the higher up for each successive job. During this time, his mother is becoming more and more nutso than usual, her memories fading in and out. On top of the Alzheimer, she has new complications with her liver, heart and kidneys. She still calls out for her daddy.

2007

Sven age, 27. He becomes depressed when he wins his latest case, defending a mobster trialed for murder - whom he knows absolutely that the mobster killed that innocent family in a drive-by. He takes the opportunity to visit his poor mother, whom he had place in a nursing home, telling him to find his grandfather. Lately, she has been speaking more and more to her idealized dreams of her father. She give Sven newspaper clippings with references of a Vander Corvus.

Sven glances at the newspaper clipping, noting that they are from Carcosa, but doesn't buy that a lost grandfather would take them in - or if that grandfather is still alive. After all, He know something of his mother experiences with their distant relatives and how they snub Elisabeth.

However, he'll do as she ask - to take some of bad taste from his mouth by doing a good deed for a change. He continues the search for his grandfather with expectations of demise.

Sven takes a short leave from work - stating for personal matters - travels down to Carcosa. Sven lodge himself in a hotel with plans of staying for a few days and then leaving. Sven uses some of his connection to ask around quietly for Mr. Vander Corvus. After a few day, it seem that he stonewall from the information.

It seem that his search has taken an unexpected turn. Sven is determined, a bit curious, to find this Vander Corvus in the city. Yet, each time he has any leads - it seem that he is stonewall from any other clues or just simply turned away. He continues his search for several weeks.

As searches for Vander Corvus - he gets a call that his mother has committed suicide. He tells them to handle the funeral and send him a bill. He stares at the phone for the rest of the evening.

Several more weeks passes since the passing of his mother - and he still has no luck in finding anything about Vander Corvus. Sven has resolution to see things through - he will find Vander Corvus because it is his mother's last request. He keeps pushing for information - getting beating in some cases - but he doesn't give up. During this experience, Sven had received several warning and death mail - yet that does not turn him away - just drives him become harder on the search.

Finally, he get a message to meet with the man he was searching for, it seem that his resolve sparked something of interest in Mr. Corvus. The message states to meet with him at a private restaurant to discuss between them. And that it was tonight.

Fearing of losing the this golden opportunity after months of being stonewall - rushes over in a taxi to the private restaurant. In his mind, he has some qualms about meeting the men after so much time.

Yet, if he goes he'll soon know if the man is whom is truly searching for.

Sven arrives to the restaurant - and makes his way toward the private booths - he is at first disappointed that the gentlemen is close to his age - however he is surprise as he was going about of giving his apologies, that the man has a strong family resemblance to him. He takes a sit with Vander Corvus, and they begin a simple conversation, as he remembers it, it starts with the usual questions - why he was here, why was he seeking him and why didn't he heed the warnings - Sven replied that it was his mother's last request to meet with her father and that he was honoring it. Sven staring at the strong family resemblance on Vander has him prompting to ask if Vander was an uncle or a cousin.

Ignoring the question for the moment, Vander takes in Sven gaze with a thoughtful air about him. His eyes seem to unfocused for a moment, as if staring into the past, before returning to the present. Vander claimed that he was named after Sven's and "his" grandfather, who died years ago, whom he shares strongly in family resemble. Vander offers the young lad an opportunity to learn about his heritage and his grandfather whom he was search for.

Sven agrees.

They continue their conversation for a while longer before each "cousin" departs other company.

2008 - present

Sven has return to the city of Carcosa, he continues to have a correspondence with his "cousin" Vander. The city is well enough, it bit too many people - but that matter of preference - his practice is still small time - but it is attracting the sort of people he used to. It should be well, but somehow it not.

As the months continues, it seem there is something suspicious about dear old "Cousin" Vander. The way Vander only meet the him at evening, which isn't a problem but it is unusual, how Vander correspond with him. Something that is suspicious that he cannot rub off, it would be better if he confront his cousin and have his uneasiness be eased away.

Time as a Ghoul

He has found that his cousin has gone missing - he searches on his own - which he has no success. He turns to Madam Wu, when one of his allies suggest it, to help him seek the whereabouts of his cousin. During his time with Madam Wu, he learns the truth about his cousin, Vander, whom turns out to be his grandfather as well as news that he had been killed. He accepts Madam Wu proposal to become be employed by her - taking a special drink to seal the deal. The proposal is great as he start making connection within the city, under the guidance of Madam Wu, it looks that he would prosper.

Yet, this relationship soon ended as quickly as it begun. Sven had the unfortunate event of catching the eye of Josephine Blackwell-Finch, a heated rival of Madam Wu, and was offered by her to be a servant of hers, a ghoul. It was an attempt to buy his silence from hearing Sunshine Adams speak of Kindred business unknowing that Sven was already aware. Josephine did not know that Sven was already a ghoul of Madam Wu, when she offered, thus he resisted her second attempt to ghoul him. The first was done under her power.

He related his experiences to Madam Wu - trying to continue his life as it was - trying to move pass the encounter. He was doing well for a short period until he had the luck of running into Serianna, another Kindred, that he been chatting with for a short while. It was during his time with Serianna that his path crossed again with Josephine - he tried to escaped but the Daeva was determine to catch him.

It was that evening that he was embraced into the world of the Kindred.

After Embrace

It has been a week since the evening that he had become a childe of Josephine - he's learning what he need to be a member of his new society.
