Sunshine Adams

Rumors and whatnot

  • "Sunshine isn't really a closed type of person. He insists that in his type of business, you have to be open for every form of negotiation from pretty much anyone. So if there is someone Sunshine can't stand, its not because of his Clan, Covenant, skin color or gender, it's because that person fucked him up first."
    • "Doesn't mean he has no grudges, it just means he's ready to work over them if the price is right."
  • "Sunshine likes to see himself as a "go - to" man, and he keeps extending the range of things people need, so the business is blooming. Thing he's most proud of his his lacrima production and dealing. It's not a secret that he gives discounts to regulars, and it's not a secret that few kindred do have open tab in his services."
    • "Just because he's dead now, doesn't mean Sunshine doesn't still "enjoy". "
  • "Sunshine also openly favors blacks. Doesn't mean he disrespects others, it means if you're black, and you're in need, you'll probably find it easier to get a favor from Sunshine."
  • "Sunshine is lazy."
  • "Sunshine never passed over and embraced his unlife. I'm telling you man, he's on the basketball court every Sunday after sun goes down."
  • "Sunshine used to cheat at poker with his sight, until his sire slapped some honesty in him."
  • "Man, Sunshine got smacked down hard few years back by that head Crone fucker, Merrick. Apparently they threw shit at each other in Elysium and Sunshine keyed his car hour later in front of the nightclub. Man, Merrick fucked him up so bad that his ghouls delivered lacrima for next two weeks while Sunshine was "out of town". Hah, out of town my ass."
  • "Sunshine is the one actually controllin' the oceanfront, so you better check yourself with him if you have somethin' to do there. Hell, I've seen him around baby docks as well. Who does this guy think he is?
  • "That tall black guy? Yeah I know him. He's a down to earth guy, I always ask him to what shelter will he volunteer next week so I pop around there. He always gives me an extra blanket. Why, whatcha need form him?

Sunshine Adams is a Mekhet of the Carthian Movement, and all the info here is considered OOC information unless stated otherwise.

Mid 1950s, Mortal days

Carcosa born and raised, and straight from the Old Town to add that as well, Darren Renolds jr. decides that he's sick of listening to his old man moaning and whining every day about tax breaks, lack of justice trough the streets and amount of corruption on the high branches while the working man suffers. Darren didn't really like whining, or moping or moaning or any other sort of inactivity. That's one of the reasons why he had a job with 11 years only. It wasn't a real job, but hey, it spared him from three hour monologues that he had to hear from his old man every time he asked for a buck or two to buy something sweet. It wasn't a good part of town to grow up, but the media, the old people and rest of whining niggers around were exaggerating alot. If you wanted to work, if you wanted to give the extra mile, and if you knew when to shut up and listen, you could come on the top at the end of the day. School was a whole other deal back then. The war ended almost a decade ago, but that didn't really turn the tide and pour some cash to the school system. At least not in Carcosa, or at least not in his neighbourhood. So Darren learned the little that he could from home, bit more from the grocery store he cleaned at, and rest from the street. Hey, at least the crew from the block is alright. Darren grows steady and waits his chance to get a real job, at construction. Same as everyone else from the block.

Early 1960s, Chance for a break

Darren gets his first chance, and its from his close friend Buggy who's friend's cousin uncle is one of the hot new investors in town. In the world of unfinished glass and steel Darren finds his life. The pay is good if you're a working man, and even his old man knows that now, since Darren took the responsibility of feeding the family now. As long as the city goes up, so will Darren, or at least that's what he thought. As sixties end, so does his promising career.

1970s, it's time to get dirty

First few months were manageable. There was still some cash left in the savings, but the new jobs weren't opening anywhere. Entire family tried to save as they could and Darren's father lost his job. His time was done and most that he did was drink and play dominoes outside, fucking useless bastard. Even Buggy had no connections, all of his rich friends disappeared. While they despaired, Mugsy didn't though. Darren's first neighbor has seen it all in his head. With lacks of jobs, people turn to only thing they can. Drugs and booze. Sad fact, but very true fact and it didn't take long for Mugsy's business to start flourishing. Darrel slowly becomes bitter as his old man, but refuses to accept it and decides it's better to die of a gunshot than die as a failure. He teams up with Mugsy and the underground scene opens up a whole new window of opportunities. Rough ups, extortion, firebugs and drive by gunning becomes a common thing. Changing his name to Sunshine Adams by calling in few favors from up above in the rich world Sunshine waits and prepares for the situation that's about to explode.

Turning point

1977 - Shit hits the fan, and the rumors of people getting sick beyond the cure fucks it up even more. People steal what they can. Sunshine gets few sweet rides from the opportunity, some cash and manages to disappear right before national guard flies down to control the situation. 1979 - Not long after the city's legit and underwold business starts to mix and everyone wants their piece of pie. Police is easy to bribe and the cash flows in from the legit businesses. Sunshine finds himself comfortably surrounded by cash and things you can easily get with cash; security, power and women. If only those triads stopped fucking up the situation and keeping the leash on the brothers.

What happens next? Well, it happened so fast that noone actually found out. ever. Limo picked up Sunshine one evening, and he returned tomorrow evening, with two geishas and a fancy new ride. Peace offering from triads, that's how he presented it. The territory was marked and deals are to be honored. Sunshine's people could resume in their trade and whatnot, and the business inside triad's protection stays unharmed. It was the only way Sunshine could maintain his rep and the things could finally progress. That didn't worry sunshine tho, what worried him is what the fuck happens with his life.. pardon, death now.

Apparently there was a huge bloodshed that mortals didn't know about and apparently there's half of kindred than it used to be around. Sunshine just nods over a period of next six months and soaks up all the information he can. He spends most of the night doing mortal business and keeping the things in check while studying up on the Movement and politics of bigger fish. Since they refused to side with the Sanctum things were pretty calm for a while, that is, until Consilium placed them all in a big reservation. Sunshine didn't have to move at all, but the Movement itself scored few deals and helped few kindred to move faster. Oceanfront was practically a place where Sunshine did all of his business, and he was glad that didn't have to change. Sunshine slowly integrates himself in the social scene of the town, providing from guns to drugs on a small scale for kindred only, and can be seen quite often rolling dice and partying on The Merry Widow, showing people how to have a good time, in case they are clueless.

1998/99 - Shit starts flowing trough the kindred streets again, as the Sanctum decides to take their revenge once again. This time, Sunshine makes it appear like he's dragged into the whole thing, but he keeps his eye on the entire situation and makes the right move for his future. Tired of the bloodshed and seeing how noone cares about stimulans and whatnot when the war is out there Sunshine approaches Kien Zhao and fills him with the info for a little compensation. Managing to pull it off without everything getting traced back to him, Sunshine maintains the neutrality he much desired and slowly waits for the right time to act.

At the same time, Sunshine grows his first mandagora plant with success, and celebrates it off with a rumor that lacrima is available for the kindred of Carcosa. The rumor bounces off well on the Invictus / Crone side but the city is still at unease from the Sanctum threat so Sunshine takes care of that first.

2003 - Sunshine takes a more direct and open approach this time and feeds Kien with more information and advice. Unlike Jurgens, Kien takes action and with the names and addressees things pretty much calm down when example is made of few kindred. Sunshine finally has all freedom he needs and few kindred in the city find a small dosage of his lacrima on their doorstep.

2004 - Things were going well for the Movement and for Sunshine in his own business as well, but recent dealings of a Dragon named Vander Corvus disturbed Sunshine's nightly dealings again as Corvus was granted Oceanfront as his personal domain. Knowing that a dragon can't bully him out, but making sure his business doesn't suffer as well, Sunshine makes an agreement with Corvus and gets a personal control of the Union Square. The details of the deal are unknown to nearly anyone, but it's a known fact that you have to clear things with Sunshine before you even put your foot down in Union Square.

Current years

Sunshine is dealing with almost every commodity a kindred could need, and for a good price too. He made it clear tho, with first dumb question that he'll never sell his covenant out.
