New York

Caught in a dispute between the Spina Au Pair who actually wanted to embrace him and the Mekhet who wished to do so completely out of spite, Astor found himself an unwitting pawn to angry and reasonably powerful ancillae from even before his embrace. The situation only intensified when the Mekhet did in fact embrace him, and then turned him over to the Spina Au Pair. With her whispering in his ear and him providing what information he had access to, it was not very long before the disinterested sire found himself disgraced before the eyes of the kindred of New York City. It's likely no one was the least bit surprised when the rather prolific Alexander Vesey disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and it was almost universally assumed that one or more of his childer were responsible. The fact that this was concurrent with the very recently released Astor's own disappearance from the city was not entirely surprising to many kindred, though the reasons the harpies could give you varied wildly, giving credence to the idea that all the rumors were just speculation. Some called it a pure and simple case of hejira and felt that Vesey's more honorable childer had stayed to reclaim their honor in the proper way, and as Campbell, the Au Pair who'd gotten him through the manumission claimed it was true, of all the theories this was by far the most popular and credible. Still, others hypothesized that with no sire and no connections to blood-siblings, no real status in the Invictus, and not even a cursory connection to his clan, that there was simply no choice but for him to find a newer, and perhaps smaller city to dwell in. Others still whispered that the slighted Au Pair had used her sway over the child to convince Astor to murder his own sire. Naturally, mentioning such rumors in front of Campbell or any of her numerous allies throughout society brought on angry admonitions and threats of varying degrees of subtlety and severity.

The Road

The open road isn't a kind place to Mekhet, and it's not a great place for an Invictus either. Astor left New York decently well provisioned, with a small stable to travel with him. They toured the country for some years acting primarily as a conduit of kindred rumors and the occasional letter. Astor and his retinue avoided the major cities like the plague, and consequently travelled to nearly every suburb, factory town, and small city where a kindred could get a meal and a hotel room. Horribly inept at any kind of survival that went past "tin foil the windows and sleep under the bed," Stacy realized in a few short years he was just not cut out for the road and would have to find a better way.

Atlanta

A short stay in Atlanta has shown Stacy just what can happen in a city where there are no truly potent elders. The Carthian coup of decades past had rid the city of some of its eldest and most powerful, and left what, in New York would for the most part be considered a bunch of ancillae, to the task of plotting, scheming, and generally running the city. This meant a fast moving, wide open sort of political situation, and that was only exacerbated by the buildup to war which had reached it's boiling point shortly after his arrival.

Astor quickly found himself embroiled in conflict with the Carthians, and in particular the smart mouthed Dyllan Dallis. Rumors flew about an incident in the city's Olympic Park involving some sort of knife attack, and Astor's loud, repeated, and insistent demands that Dallis meet him in honorable combat probably didn't help lend any credibility to his claims of innocence.

Then the so-called "Invictus Killers" arrived in Atlanta. Invictus demands they be run off were met rebuffed, at least partially on the grounds that they were here because of Astor's rumored penchant for attacking kindred in the city's public parks. War broke out, and, like any Soldier, Stacy fought, and still fights.
