Overview
This is a quick guide to some of the site features you'll find on Suspire.org. In recent months we've added a number of features, and this is an attempt to help all our players (new and old) figure out just what information has been changed and added. This guide deals primarily with the sidebar, sheet and other information about your CHARACTER that can be found, but will briefly explain other sections of the site as well.
The top navigation bar
I will be keeping this section brief and go over just a few of the highlighted points and general overview of each of these sections.
Starting & Creation
Very simply, this section includes most all of the information you need to get yourself registered, and a broad overview of the rules. It /does not/ go into the House rules a starting player will need to be aware of. All players should probably review this section before each new character they create, since any rule changes about creation will show up here. (Such as the new embrace rewards, or the altered hunting system).
In addition to this, players will find the "Approved for Play" section here. This will give players a list of all merits, bloodlines, rituals and devotions approved for play on Suspire.org. In addition, any Suspire.org created rituals, devotions, bloodlines or merits will have their write-ups found in this section.
House Rules
Pretty self explanatory really, this section includes or links all House ruled information on Suspire.org, including full write-ups for those merits which were revamped completely (such as Allies) or created by Suspire.org (such as Domain, we know, there is a Domain merit in the Damnation City book, but we had ours first >:( )
Setting Information
Again, self explanatory. It includes the domain map and the status listings, which are the 2 links you will use most often. People will also find the Sites section, which is very helpful as it explains the rules of the Sites that we've chosen to put in game. (it's similar but changed from the Damnation City rules on Sites, so read it through and check it out!) New players should not forget the "Kindred History" section listed here, as that can also be very helpful for creating a character rising from torpor.
Site Supplemental
This section includes links to the Forums, the Journals and the Wiki. It also has a /very/ useful page which lists each active character and their player's forum user name which is uber useful for sending forum PM's.
Other & Miscellaneous
This is where you download the toolkit if you want it (it's a bit out of date atm, I know), the wallpapers, or read site rules and such.
Sidebar
This is essentially the basics of your character at a glance. We'll walk through all the sections and the information you'll find in each and a few things to watch for.
Current Character
- First line has your characters name as it appears in the system.
- The 2nd line has 3 links. The first provides a "pop-up" view of your characters sheet. The 2nd provides your characters sheet in the main site window and the 3rd allows for a .txt download of your sheet to store locally, backup, fiddle with for XP planning, etc.
- The 3rd line has 2 links, your description, and your quick notes, or personal notes. Both of these allow you to edit your characters description and keep track of information in your personal notes section. Things to keep track of here include: rolls you've made toward an extended roll (you do still need to do the roll for an ST, but keeping track of the rolls is very helpful), phone numbers or addresses you have gathered, channels you've found or people you've PTed on. Obviously you can store anything here.
- Next up is the Extended Quick Stats. The page that this links to will get it's own section.
- Last is old characters. Here you can view the sheets of old characters until they have been deleted from the database.
Experience
Very simple, 2 options, one for claiming XP, one for spending it. This is every players favorite section.
Quick Stats
Most of these are pretty self explanatory, but I'll go through them anyway.
- Current Vitae. The number on the left is how much you have, the number on the right is your maximum vitae pool. If the number on the left is yellow, you are nearing frenzy range. If the number on the left is red, you are in frenzy range, and are probably in trouble.
- Current WP. Same deal as above, only without color codes. Left is current, right is max. Simple.
- [Optional] That is your current Herd pool. If you have /any/ herd at all, it will show up, if you have 0 herd max, this section will not appear. Same deal as above, left number is current, right is max herd.
- [Optional] Vampires have this section, ghouls do not. It's your "minimum hunting success" section and also lists your current hunting domain. The number you see is how many successes your hunting roll has to get for you to get any blood. Obviously the higher the number, the worse off you are. If the number is red, it means you are above your normal "minimum success" number. If it's green, then it's below your normal number. The place listed here is the place you are hunting, period. If you want to hunt somewhere else, click on "Site" under your characters name to pull up your Site sheet, and change the feeding location that you are hunting in from there. The sidebar will reflect the change.
- [Optional] Health Chart. If you have damage, this spot will fill in with a small version of the Health Chart on your sheet. A constant reminder that your body isn't whole. Obviously to fix this, you use the !heal commands that you find on the commands page.
- [Optional] Ally uses. This is a link you can click to display the number of uses you have for each ally type for each of the 4 sections (Regular, NPC, Domain, Ascendancy). Again, left number is current uses, right is maximum. If a number is red, then you are out of uses of that type.
- [Optional] Domain uses. Same thing as allies, only for domains. Lists each of the domains you have the merit for, and how many uses for each one you have.
IC Events
A simple section, this will show you IC events that pertain to your character. Events can be based on a persons Clan, Covenant, All Kindred, or All Kindred and Ghouls. The timer is basically telling you how long until the event starts. All times are in server time. If you want to have an event added to the list, come into #gamehelp and let us know and we can add it.
Masquerade Heat
This is a gauge to help players understand the current Masquerade status in the city. If it's low, life is good, suspicion is down, humans aren't watching the shadows quite so hard for monsters lurking in the dark. If it's high, the masquerade is straining itself and if it turns red, bad things start to occur, such as Hunters, feeding penalties, ect.
Recent Forum Topics
Again, pretty self explanatory, just the last 3 forum topics that were posted on. Nice for keeping up with the Joneses yo.
Recent Wiki Changes
See above, only with wiki stuff instead of forum stuff.
Recent Journal Changes
See above, only with Journals instead of forum stuff.
Extended Quick Stats Page
This is a page that has like, oodles of info about your character. Seriously, all kinds of crap.
Personal History of XP Claims
This section shows you how much XP you have received for the last like, 10 weeks or something. Also shows total and spent.
Resources Extended Information
This is a cool section that isn't very cool until you have some monthly automatic money transfers. This section details all of the automatic incoming and outgoing cash for your character and when the next time it should do that transfer will be. This is for businesses, P.O. Boxes, cash transfers to other characters on a regular automatic basis, etc. Also shows your normal income from the Resources merit, and your total money.
Sites Information
Currently Influenced Site: This is the name of the Site. Obviously.
Total Successes: This is the numerical "total influence" you have in the site, along with what "tier" that represents. For more info, see the Sites write-up on the page.
Last Week's Changes: This tells you when the last "Calculation" was (every Sunday) and how much you gained or lost toward your total influence for the site as part of that calculation. If you Gained less then your total success count, it means you were in a feud and thus didn't get full benefit of your roll. If you Lost some influence, it means you were on the losing end of the feud, and lost ground.
Extended Allies Information
Current Permutations
This section shows any currently active ally uses that have an extended effect. If you have a block active, it will show up here, along with it's ending date and other useful info. Same for other "lasting" effects.
Your last 10 ally uses
Self explanatory, this will lay out your last 10 uses, and any notes attached to them. Keep in mind that anything under a "note" section can only be seen by you and STs, other players do not normally get that information on a Contact or Domain check. In some cases, such as an exceptional, they may get a piece of the information contained within Notes, such as the name of a person who you traced.
Extended Domain Information
Current Permutations
Works just like the allies version, this shows things like Defends that last a specific length of time, and shows you when they will end.
Your last 10 domain uses
Same as allies, just your last 10 domain uses and pertinent info about them. Note that different domains are not separated out.
Hunting and Living Information
The left-hand part of this section tells you where you're living in the system, if you're in a group haven, if you are living via Protean 2, what your haven security is, what your paper trails score is, ect. The right hand part of this section shows you a list of everywhere you've hunted in the last 7 days. Each type you use the !hunt command to feed, a log will be made here, telling you what domain you were if you hunted secretly, how many successes you gained on the roll, and if you gained blood or not.
Group Haven Extended Information
This section tells you A) who else is living in your group haven with you, since you know, you live with them, so you would know when people move in and out. and B) anything under the "notes" section of the group haven. This is generally a haven description, any security enhancements the haven has, and special features or items that anyone living in the house should know.
