Well Known Facts

  • Seraphina's true origins, before arriving in Carcosa as a ghoul to a vicious Nosferatu known only to Kindred as Vincent in the early years of the century, are unknown, and there are several "rumors" about her past that float around from time to time when people care enough to wonder.
  • The woman is practically a compulsive liar. For a few years in the late 1930's she claimed to be, not a Nosferatu as believed, but a member of a rare Daeva bloodline. She had several people going for awhile to, until of course they met her Sire and it became all to obvious he was in no way Daeva.
  • Seraphina's tastes run to the exotic, especially in the bedroom. Whips, chains and knives are not uncommon and there were rumors at one time that she even killed a few humans by going too far during a little slap and tickle.
  • Seraphina enjoys making others uncomfortable and when possible, scared. She makes no bones about this fact and no apologies. It's well known that owing a boon to Seraphina usually means some level of pain or torture will be involved. Of course sometimes just meeting with her can mean the same thing if she's in a particularly foul mood.
  • She's every bit as fanatical about her religion as the Lancea Sanctum are about theirs and considers anyone who doesn't follower her faith to be doomed. At the same time, she isn't as "altruistic" as the Lancea Sanctum and has no reason at all to help you save your soul. Her faith doesn't mandate such things, the state of your soul is your own problem, as is the punishment the Gods will give you.
  • Unlike some Crone, Seraphina is never heard talking about "to each their own" or "equality" when it comes to religion. She seems to loath other Crone who don't follow her Gods as much as she loathes everyone else who doesn't follow her Gods, including her brother James.
  • Seraphina is often seen making rather overt sexual advancements at Alexander Castillo, not that such a thing is rare, but she sometimes hints that he's a man who gives in from time to time and enjoys the pleasures her company can bring.
  • Shortly after Seraphina's childe, Alex Drake, was released, Ivy humiliated him rather publicly. What, if anything, Seraphina did to her fellow Crone member for acting against her childe is unknown.
  • In 2001, Lily Wu met with Seraphina for some unknown purpose, and Seraphina sent the Carthian scum away missing a finger. Why Lily never regrew it was a matter of some minor debate, although Seraphina sometimes hints that the woman was unable to...because Seraphina made it so.

Origin Stories

Merry Murderess

The first tale of Seraphina's origins begins nearly 300 years ago. She was a serial killer in southern France ("not that we were called such things back then", says Seraphina) who had been caught by the Kings men. Imprisoned and scheduled for execution, an Elder Nosferatu found her and, knowing her reputation well, and believing her to be already touched by the Beast, stole her away from the prison in a horrible display of raw power. Now a ghoul, her ability to find and slaughter only increased, but as it risked the masquerade, and her master could not abide such a thing, his punishments became more and more severe (causing many of the scars she bears today). Why he never killed her is unknown, some say true love, some say he even he was afraid of what she might try against him in her last moments of life, but instead of leaving her to die, to wither and rot, after nearly 50 years of servitude he passed her down to his childe, and he to his childe, and so on to Vincent. Through time her tastes turned from murder to torture, and from torture to fear and by the time she was in Vincents hands, 150 years later, she was an insatiable being who would torture and kill Vincents other ghouls for the barest insults just to watch the others run in terror. He struck a deal shortly after arriving in Carcosa, that he would give her what she wanted, the Embrace, if she would direct her appetites in the direction of his choosing. She agreed and was embraced as a servant of the gods by her sire in 1910, performing as promised for nearly 25 years before breaking free of him.
