General Kindred Involvement

The Kindred of the area have always been deeply religious and deeply intolerant. The city is firmly under the control of the Lancea Sanctum and has been since the American Revolutionary War.

The other covenants have fought amongst each other for control, most notably amongst the slowly failing Invictus covenant and the up-and-coming Carthian Movement. The Circle of the Crone have attempted numerous incursions into the area, but have always wound up blocked by the three major covenants (or killed) and thus only a few members of their covenant have managed to claw their way into the city and stay. The Ordo Dracul, likewise have had their numbers kept to few, but have had greater success than the Acolytes in their endeavor and boast a sizable Academy even with it's relatively close proximity to Atlanta.

Historically, the Sanctified have held masses at dusk on Thursday evenings for all Kindred and all Kindred are expected to come to mass at least once per month. This monthly mass, referred to as Ecclesia with a suffix of <topic of meeting>. It is well known that the Sanctified consider it heresy for a Kindred to avoid showing their faces once a month in their halls and more than a few unwary Kindred have perished under the feverish steel grip of the followers of Longinus in Savannah.

Every year, Savannah is visited by many Mendicants who have learned of a secret and well-guarded Theban Sorcery ritual that was solved by the Sanctified of Savannah. The rumors abound outside of the city about the discovered ritual stretch from it being a gift from god to aid in the Crusade against the failing of faith (literally) to a simple gift of heightened awareness. In any event, though the specifics aren't known, the fact of the matter is that there is something there, and it does draw Sanctified like moths to a flame, which bolsters their numbers and adds to the vice grip on the city.
