Ipse Longinus Id Dixit.

(“Longinus himself has spoken it.”)

— Traditional Lancea Sanctum idiom

The Lancea Sanctum is the religious and moral backbone of the Kindred, as well as the covenant of self-appointed priests and inquisitors of the Damned. Universally respected and feared, the covenant constantly seeks to oversee the religious existence of all Kindred, if not to rule them outright. Believing themselves to be the chosen of God, Kindred of the Lancea Sanctum follow The Testament of Longinus, a collection of writings made by the centurion who pierced Christ’s side and was turned into a vampire. The Sanctified believe that his divine transformation gave purpose to the existence of the Damned and a new purpose for the undead.

The Lancea Sanctum seeks to convert those that it can, and uses conversion as an alternative to conflict, not wanting to cut down a potential brother or sister. The Sanctified also accomplish this by offering spiritual guidance wherever possible, offering themselves as priests and advisors to all of the Damned, and a Bishop or Archbishop often closely follows an Invictus Prince.

Benefit: Members of the Lancea Sanctum have access to a special discipline, Theban Sorcery. Theban Sorcery is a type of blood magic capable of leveling curses of seemingly Biblical origin.

Covenant Ascendancy Information

When the Sanctified are in full-control, the Lancea Sanctum is the supreme authority from which all other authority derives. They have much easier direct influence over the masses, which is represented in two fashions: Street & Church allies 1. Additionally, without the common-struggle for power, the Lancea Sanctum has more time to devote to ceremonies and ritualistic practices, thus, the Lancea Sanctum may purchase one ritual at half experience cost per month of ascendancy (but must be purchased within that month - months don't stack or "roll-over").

Current Faction Views

As far as we can tell, they may as well be part of the Crone covenant. Without the usual malcontents and lost souls, few of them stand to be recruits and that is where our interest in them stops - that is, except to watch them for further spread of the pagan heresy.

We would seek them to be our allies but they seem to be just as disarrayed as we used to be. They are not the Testament-abiding Kindred we expect from the most august covenant to put forth. For now we are content to wait and see if they become something worth calling 'ally'.
It tears our souls to see the Crone in power in the city. The way things have become here is just a demonstration of why such pagans should never be allowed power. While we may not be strong enough to openly act against them, we remain aware of opportunities to stealthily strike.

The Ordo Dracul are falling fast. We expect them to crumble any time now. They have no hand in politics, nor influence in the city. They are not even worth our attention unless they start spreading their heretical influences.
We usually draw our recruits from the Unaligned and with the Prince insisting most of the join covenants, we do all the better. We should all keep an open mind when it comes to nomads and new childer, these make up the majority of the laity.

Currently the Sanctified view the city as a garden needing tending - or perhaps razing and replanting. The souls of many are wounded and need repairing, the Sanctified see this as their duty. They blame the deplorable state mostly on the Crone and Ordo, but expect that it can be changed with dedication, hard work and God's will.
