Atmosphere: Welcoming
Welcoming locations are both more active than Accepting locations and more mercurial. Likely environments include underground raves, meetings of secret societies, impromptu drum circles, biker gatherings, and the like. Some places, which require either an invitation or some secret information to find, assume that those who are there share some common interest, ideal, or understanding, and therefore are places where one’s guard can be lowered. Others, whether due to naïveté or an impressive amount of faith and trust in humanity, simply happily welcome any who find them. Both environments, however, can turn ugly very quickly when the most meager of slights is committed. Whether an accidental signal that tells others that the outsider isn’t supposed to be there or a taboo behavior or simply ruining the party, all such acts are punishable with snubbing, expulsion, mockery, or even attack depending on the mood and lifestyle of those present.
Description
Serene. Peaceful. Rich. Three words to describe this private set of property on the Amptons. Set on one of the ten acre lots of "mansion land", there are neighbors, but they simply aren't close. The house itself is of a cool off-white-like color with sharp cool grey accents and black replica-carved Chinese-styled trim.
The entire house is actually not as large as it's surrounding "neighborhood" partners, but then, it was likely not intended to be. Surrounded by an eight-foot privacy fence made of the white and grey plastering and rock style that the house walls are made of, it has an opening for the drive that leads up to the house.
Inside, the home opens up into one large area. There are not multiple rooms. The large open-space has been redone in a more upscale masculine theme that seems to linger somewhere between modern and retro, with browns and golds. Behind the seating arrangements sits a large book case with various knick-knacks that fit into the theme of the room. Large wooden framed photography of Carcosa in various time periods are hung through out. Placed discretely on a back wall is a black framed white cloth board, placed to blend in amongst the paintings - this board is used for notices although only recent ones are posted. Chaises, modern sofas, and simple cushioned chairs done in brown and black have been arranged in conversation areas throughout the large room. Beautiful crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling to provide a soft lighting over the entire room.
Leading out from the main room is the rock garden; it's a zen styled place with black pebbles bordering blue sand done in the shape of a york rose, white sand makes up abstract shapes for further decoration. The small stone pathway travels over a small creek that flows back to a small fifteen feet wide pond. Stepping stones lead to various benches and standing places in the garden so the sand and pebbles aren't disturbed.
