Mortal Life

Richard was born in 1930, right in the middle of the Great Depression in Boston. His early upbringing in a poor section of Boston was a hardship as him and his family tried to survive and live within the harsh time. With his parents and two sisters, Richard was one of the lucky families to be somewhat stable during this time. His father worked in a factory while his mother taught him and his sisters in their small shanty home. Because of this early upbringing Richard became grateful for everything he received. As the world erupted into war and the United States began to pull out of the depression his life began to improve a bit as his mother found work and he went to public school. In school Richard didn't stand out too much as he was a calm kid, but one thing that was unique about him was his knack for helping others. When the US finally joined the war in Europe and Pacific Richard brought his classmates together to spend all they could raise on War Saving Stamps. As he continued on into his teens he continued on with school. Getting ever closer to his graduation he had to come to a decision of what to do after highschool. He knew that he was not able to go to any college without a scholorship of some sort which he knew he wasn't going to get. His hopes came up as he developed a friendship with his school counselor and came to the decision that he wanted to be a school counselor. Once he had finished highschool his counselor took him under his wing as a protege and co-counselor. As years went on he didn't change much, he was now the main counselor at the school where it paid decently and he moved to the suburbs. His life was relatively boring and without change until he met Father William Abner.

Richard was never that much of a religous person, but it was an aspect of his life. He would occasionally volunteer at his church helping with events or helping with the youth programs and on some occasions helping with Alcholics Anonymous and similiar programs. One night during a nightly service there was a new man watching on the service. Richard didn't pay much attention to the man until after the service was completed when the man had approached him. He had introduced himself as Father William Abner and he had heard of Richard's deeds among the community. From there they had developed a friendship meeting during service and after discussing world events, people, and religion. He had eventually found out that William was an Orthodox monk of a very old order whose main focus was on to help others as well as they were religous. This interested Richard greatly, even more when William asked Richard if he would like to join. It took him a bit to actually come to a decision. The main thing that he thought about and wasn't sure if he should join because of this was the religous aspect of this order that William had told him about. He may have gone to church and helped out, but it was never really a big part of his life. However, he was told that the bigger part of this Order was helping others. Once he had heard this it solidified his decision to join. From there he had begun to convert to Orthodox Christianity and progressed well. However, there were things that were left in the shadows. Just the small part about becoming a vampire.
