Description
The Disciple has mastered the very first requirement of the bloodline. This power allows the Disciple to cause a corpse to exhibit one or two traits of life by directly causing the dead flesh to twitch or move slowly. The vampire cannot force the corpse to speak and if he forces the eyes to open, any doubt that the subject is still dead is dispelled by the milky, rotted appearance of it’s eyes.
System
Upon success, the vampire can make a single corpse within 30 feet twitch or make similar slight movements. Movements can be made to occur, but the character cannot make the corpse do anything more than replicate a sleeping mortal. Examples of this would be a muscle twitch, a pulse, a deep breathing pattern, slight stirring or all of the above.
A character witnessing the usage of this power may, if she chooses, to contest the belief that the body actually has some life in it by making a Wits + Medicine roll and earning more successes on the roll than the Disciple gained on casting the ritual. If the person touches the body and notices the lack of warmth, they gain a +2 modifier on their roll. If the person sees the eyes of the corpse, their success on knowing that it is indeed dead is automatic.
This power can be used on a vampire in torpor.
Generally, most casters cut an incision down their right index finger and pool their vitae into their palm while they focus on the body. It usually takes little more than a turn to activate, in which the pooled blood seems to evaporate immediately out of the palm of the user without leaving any sort of flakes or trace.
