Lit by only a few lights that flicker and buzz all night through, Pier 52 is almost always deserted. Every school child in Carcosa has heard the story about the sailor whose ship put into port at Pier 52 expecting to meet his fiancé there at the port. Instead he found her with another man, ready to tell him it was over. In a fit of rage he stabbed man and woman both to death before slitting his own throat.

Likewise, every school child in Carcosa has at one point known someone who knew someone who went to Pier 52 after dark and was found the next morning the brutal victim of ghostly inflicted stab wounds. While the ghost may or may not be real, there’s enough murders that happen on the pier and bodies that wash up around there that the story has an eerie essence of truth.

Boats no longer put in at Pier 52, if only because sailors have a tendency to be superstitious. That doesn’t mean the pier goes unused though, shady business deals, meetings, drug exchanges and the not-occasional murder often happen there. As well as drunken kids gathering for a thrill.
