Description
The building was once a lower-class housing complex, a labyrinthine maze of brick buildings and iron beams holding up three stories of poorly-constructed rooms and hallways. Those days are long passed, however, and even the livability of the place is beyond question. There is no running water, no electricity, and the building's been condemned for over 20 years. Due to the undesirable location and the poor economy, however, no one's bought the land, much less tore the old place down to build something new and better. The lots surrounding it are either overgrown with weeds and brush, or filled with sparsely inhabited houses. It's truly a slummy place, and not even vampires would come here to try and dredge up a meal, much less any corporation hoping to turn a profit with the land.
The building itself is not much to look at. The majority of the third floor has caved in on itself, but most of the second and first floors are still standing, dark and vacant. Surrounding the property is a rusty chain-link fence with a coil of barbed wire at the top, though there are several holes in the fence cut by hooligans over the years that have not been mended. The lot is overgrown and brown, like the grass died with the rest of the complex, yet somehow gets longer still. Even the local poor, minority teenagers looking for a place to hide out to do drugs and have rabid sex know not to go near the Old Farver Building. Bad things happen there, and it's best that you don't become one of them.
The basement, however, is where the true value is. Underneath the crumbling bricks is a catacomb of boiler rooms, storage spaces, and ventilation ducts that have the distinct advantage of being so insulted by everything above them, and so remote from anything else of value, that no amount of screaming or even gunshots would be noticed. There are no prying eyes, no prying ears, and plenty of drains to dispose of the blood.
In other words, it's perfect.
