Description

Sandwiched between a coin laundry spot and a used bookstore, the Merceter & Sons Detective Agency always smells like soap and musty books. The Merceters have, through years of being located here, just gotten used to it.

The smell doesn’t really seem to ward off any potential customers, though, and the little detective agency always has a couple cases to be following up on. Naturally, most of them are checking for infidelity with “loved ones”. They don’t charge more than the average going rate, and sometimes even cut people they like a deal, if they so need, but they don’t promise time frames ever.

Old Man Merceter likes to say, “If a deadline is needed, you’re going to miss the important things on the way to meeting it.” So, people don’t come to this place if they have something urgent. Regardless, the agency has a pretty winning success rate, in comparison to other places in Carcosa which has left many others puzzled – just how do they do it, anyway?

Benefit

Non-Threatening Demeanor. Maybe someone let it slip? Either way, the reason you've been able to get in close is because they wanted to learn more about your kind! You know it's a Masquerade breach, but all the same, they don't seem to be going to tell anyone, and they know things about other supernaturals too (humorously, they keep them in the "X Files" section of their passworded private servers). In fact, they even know a couple, besides you... You may have the benefit of contacting supernaturals that, while might be aggressive or distrustful instinctively of other Kindred, do not consider you of the same ilk. While holding this benefit, you are allowed to roll 9-again on any of the Allies (Religion) actions that are about contacting, knowing of or meeting other types of supernaturals, and they are considered one level less than their printed amount.
