The Area

Marigold, named after the flower, has been the center of the botanical gardens for the city for as long as anyone can remember. Carcosa Botanical Gardens, founded in 1883, has been through it all with the city, and now that the city is flowering, so too is the Botanical Gardens. Miles of city have been converted into a large park and botanical gardens, which has in turn become one of the major tourist and romantic spots of the entire city. Money has been poured into the gardens and their upkeep by anonymous donors (read: people on Hawthorn Point), and the area is entirely lush and sculpted year round.

The park, Marigold Park, has it's own police task force to make sure that no one disturbs the tranquility of the area, and some of the police serving on this task force also double as the volunteer force over on Hawthorn Point and live in the police precinct on the island. Police are generally amiable in this area, because of tourism, and prefer to not make a scene when they're arresting someone for something or other. Notably, it is a crime to carry glass bottles of any liquid in Marigold Park after dusk, and police on horses enforce this rule with vehemence.

None of Marigold is zoned for residential, making the entire area a nature activist's dream. Lush, thick, and beautiful, Marigold is tended to by a veritable army of gardeners and horticulturists on a daily basis. There are signs that read when the park and gardens' watering times are, since the park and gardens are open all hours, so that people can either plan to be at the park when everything gets doused with water, or not. This becomes particularly popular in summertime for children, and up until around 11 PM at night (the last watering time), little rug rats and their parents can be seen.
