Covenant: Carthian Movement
Clan: Gangrel
Known Information
Embraced somewhere in the Arizona Territory, Lawson is a product of the Old West and it shows in both action and appearance. While he hasn't seen his sire in over 70 years, Lawson has fond memories of the old Indian woman that sired him and introduced him to the Danse Macabre. A member of the Circle, Lawson's sire taught him a great deal about her beliefs and the old gods, and Lawson still views himself as a member of the Chorus despite not being what anyone could consider very religious.
For the past 50 years, Lawson has acted as a messenger and, less often, as a mercenary for Carthian prefects throughout the Southwest. His face is well-known in California, Arizona and New Mexico, though his name has been dropped by various nomads from time to time who have either run with the old Gangrel or want people to think they have. Lawson is a stalwart Carthian, and has helped set up outposts for those members of the Movement who want to be able to visit their brothers and sisters in other domains. He's also set up a network of allies in various transportation sectors (most notably trains) that can get a Kindred from one city to another in a matter of hours, and usually with little danger. Nothing is guaranteed when you're traveling the Outlands.
Lawson is very loyal to his covenant, believing that the old ways of ruling don't often reflect the realities of modern nights. He doesn't have a strong political ideology, however, something that actually causes many Carthians to view him as a potential ally to their own ideals, though Lawson treats all members of the Movement equally, regardless of their political standpoints. While acknowledging himself as a Carthian, Lawson is also very fond of his clan, and goes out of his way to educate young Gangrel. It's known that Lawson has taken a few under his wing in the past, and many of those have later either joined the Movement or are at least tolerant of it.
While Lawson knows how to use the gun he carries with him everywhere, he prefers to use his (super)natural weapons in most fights: his claws. It's rumored he was a damned good shot as a mortal, and may have gone under another name as an outlaw or gunfighter. However, the century since has seen that ability lessen to a great degree. He's no longer quick on the draw and there are plenty of mortals out there that could outgun him. Nonetheless, Lawson has no problem firing off a few rounds while getting close enough to use his claws.
Despite his reputation as a nomad, Lawson has been known to settle down from time to time, and has earned Acknowledgement in a few cities by Princes who inevitably show him a grudging respect. No less than three Invictus Princes have granted Lawson leave to reside in their city, and one even named him Marshall after a handful of years helping defend the city from Brood infiltration. Inevitably, Lawson feels the urge to leave and bids farewell to allies and enemies both.
Lawson now looks to Atlanta as a possible waypoint, and plans to spend a few years measuring the locals and getting to know his brothers and sisters in the city, both covenant and clan.
Lawson is an enigma in many ways. He serves his covenant loyally but chooses not to take an ideological stance, an oddity in a purely political covenant. He supports his clanmates when necessary, but rarely asks for assistance in return. If Lawson has any personal goals, he's yet to let them become known. For a vampire that's been around well over a century, Lawson appears fairly well in control of his Beast and his future, whatever his plans for that might be.
