Ipse Longinus Id Dixit.

(“Longinus himself has spoken it.”)

— Traditional Lancea Sanctum idiom

The Lancea Sanctum is the religious and moral backbone of the Kindred, as well as the covenant of self-appointed priests and inquisitors of the Damned. Universally respected and feared, the covenant constantly seeks to oversee the religious existence of all Kindred, if not to rule them outright. Believing themselves to be the chosen of God, Kindred of the Lancea Sanctum follow The Testament of Longinus, a collection of writings made by the centurion who pierced Christ’s side and was turned into a vampire. The Sanctified believe that his divine transformation gave purpose to the existence of the Damned and a new purpose for the undead.

The Lancea Sanctum seeks to convert those that it can, and uses conversion as an alternative to conflict, not wanting to cut down a potential brother or sister. The Sanctified also accomplish this by offering spiritual guidance wherever possible, offering themselves as priests and advisors to all of the Damned, and a Bishop or Archbishop often closely follows an Invictus Prince.

Benefit: Members of the Lancea Sanctum have access to a special discipline, Theban Sorcery. Theban Sorcery is a type of blood magic capable of leveling curses of seemingly Biblical origin.

Covenant Ascendancy Information

When the Sanctified are in full-control, the Lancea Sanctum is the supreme authority from which all other authority derives. They have much easier direct influence over the masses, which is represented in two fashions: Street & Church allies 1. Additionally, without the common-struggle for power, the Lancea Sanctum has more time to devote to ceremonies and ritualistic practices, thus, the Lancea Sanctum may purchase one ritual at half experience cost per month of ascendancy (but must be purchased within that month - months don't stack or "roll-over").

Current Faction Views

The Lancea Sanctum may have been the first covenant to set foot in Atlanta, but that doesn't mean they've ever really seen political power in the city. Still more, that doesn't keep them from aspiring to the political power that being the spiritual center of the city brings. With Bishop Jacques DuPont in charge, that aspiration is more prominent than ever.

Views of the other Covenants

Mini_carthian.png
Carthian Movement: Even as they have done nothing specifically to harm the Church, neither have they done anything to aid it. They are unconcerned with the Truth of Longinus, and even as we may wish them to change their ways in that regard, it would simply be more productive to simply be equally as unconcerned with them.
Mini_invictus.png
Invictus: We are quite pleased to see them on the throne, and we whole-heartedly support their regime. We hope to have a strong relationship and alliance with them, and given the current state of things it seems entirely possible that such a relationship can be maintained. They respect the Testament and our traditions, and make allowances for us to practice our religion.
Mini_crone.png
Circle of the Crone: Heretics and pagans, the lot of them. They'll all burn some day, and with any small amount of God's Grace it will be at our hands. If they move against our bases of influence, our flock, or anything else we hold dear, the Wrath of the Sanctified will be swift and merciless.
Mini_ordo.png
Ordo Dracul: Blasphemers, for the most part. Our memories our long, and their betrayals and attacks against us are not soon forgotten. We can suffer them to live, so long as they keep their occult meddling strictly to themselves, and do not move against the Church.
Mini_unaligned.png
Unaligned: Vagrants who need to be either brought to heel or expunged from town completely. If they show Faith in the tenets of Longinus it would not hurt to try and convert them into our ranks, but if they are unwilling it would be better to have them staked and buried, before anyone remembers that they were even in town.
