The Expectation of Longinus' Commandments

As Spoken

"In a community of the faithful there exists certain expectation between those who lead and those who follow. Those who follow should know that the Archbishop of Carcosa establishes that all of the Damned adhere to the most basic commandments set down by the Dark Prophet Longinus in his divinely inspired wisdom."

As Reference

In short form, these are found in the Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 1, but for elaboration on each of these Commandments, look to the following Chapters:

Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 2:
Though you are Damned, your Damnation has purpose. It is the will of God that you are what you are, and the will of God is that the Damned exist to show the evils of turning from him.
Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 3:
Thus the Dark Father spake: that what you once were is not what you now are. As a mortal is a sheep, so are the Damned wolves among them. That role is defned by nature - wolves feed on their prey, but they are not cruel to them. The role of predator is natural, even if the predator himself is not.
Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 4:
It is known to you that an ordained hierarchy exists. As man is above beasts, so are the Damned above men. our numbers are fewer so that our purpose is better efected.
Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 5:
We know well that with the power of Damnation comes limitation. The Damned hide among those who still enjoy God's love, making themselves known only to exemplify fear.
Likewise the Damned shall make none of their own, for such is a judgment of the soul that is the purview only of God.
The Damned shall sufer yet more should they slay a fellow to take his soul from him.
Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 6:
It is difficult for many of the faithful to truly understand that our bodies are not our own. Our purpose is to serve, and when we stray from that purpose, we are to be chastened. The light of the sun excoriates; the flames of a fire purify fleshly evil. The taste of all sustenance other than Vitae is as ash upon the tongue.

The Expectation of Interaction

As Spoken

"In faithful city there exists a responsibility from one Damned to another to inspire society and community, therefore we have the proscription given to us in the Monachus' wise writings in the Rule of Golgotha."

As Reference

Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 8:
You shall celebrate your Damnation and Sanctification together with your brethren at the appointed times and in the appointed ways.
Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 7:
He who abandons the celebration without the permission of his superior will be rebuked instantly.

The Expectation of Confession & Absolution

As Spoken

"In his ultimate Wisdom the Lord has given to us the Sacrament of Confession so that our sins may be forgiven. In recognition of God's Infinite Mercy the Archbishop of Carcosa acknowledges that Absolution given by Anointed Priests be infallible in face of the court of man."

As Reference

Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 9:
Yet also he who spurns the penance of his brother shall face great punishment.

The Expectation of Paganism & Heresy

As Spoken

"The Archbishop of Carcosa recognizes that not all have the Strength of Faith to be one of God's Sanctified but in his mercy and with hope for their eventual enlightenment he proscribes that none shall be unduly persecuted, but if one shall persist in rejecting the teachings of the Faithful with bile and hatred and in their hatred prevent the execution of God's divine Purpose for the Damned they shall be granted no succor under the law."

"The wise Monachus warns us against putting our faith in witchcraft and other base doings, however the Archbishopric of Carcosa intends no holy war on those who practice the base, unholy and heretical magicks known as "Cruac" commonly practiced by the Pagan Acolytes insofar as they are respectful of the larger community of the Faithful and constrain such base activities to temples outside the common area of Kindred travel."

The Expectation of Vinculum

As Spoken

"The vitae is the most holy gift we have from our Lord and as such it should be treated with the utmost respect. In this the Archbishop of Carcosa in his God-granted wisdom outlaws the use of forcible vinculums against the Damned and criminalizes the outright theft of vitae from another."

As Reference

Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 9:
Do not taste of the Vitae of your brother without his consent, for to do so is to invite reproach and punishment. The gift of Vitae is given only by God to the care of each of us. Let not that gift be demeaned by your greed.

The Expectation of Embrace

As Spoken

"The Archbishop of Carcosa recognizes the Embrace of another into Damnation as a sin of necessity and as such refrains from prohibiting such sin completely. However in accordance with the Commandments given to us by Longinus and the inarguable wisdom presented in the Rule of Golgotha he insists that any seeking to Embrace a mortal must obtain the wise counsel of an Anointed of the Faithful and only with the recommendation of that Anointed will they be allowed to then submit to His Grace a signed request for the Indulgence of Embrace."

The Expectation of Duty

As Spoken

"In accordance to the sapience presented in the Rule of Golgotha, the Archbishop of Carcosa recognizes that those who are given responsibilities in the city and then abandons those responsibilities shall be replaced upon advisement of the wisest in the city. The Archbishop further knows that those who are given appointments in the city are an example to the rest of the Damned and as such they must be held to higher standards and thus more stringent punishments."

As Reference

Rule of Golgotha, Chapter 7:
If the abbot of the monastery is absent for a short period of time, they will wait for him, but if they see that his absence is prolonged for some more time, then they will confer amongst themselves and, through prayer and fasting discern who is the most perfect among them. Let no ill will be caused by such discernment, but let all brethren recognize God’s work in their leadership.
If the chief of the house violates one of these precepts, he will be repaid according to his deeds. Those who are first shall be punished sevenfold in their transgressions so that they may be a more perfect example of the righteous way of the Damned.
