Known Information: If you ask a member of the Lancea Sanctum, Joachim Diaz is a Sanctified with Invictus leanings. If you ask an Invictus, he’s an Invictus with Sanctified leanings. The truth is probably he’s one of those rare people who believe in both aspects equally and due to his remarkable ability to balance both zealous faith and canny politics, he holds a high position in each covenant. He’s known as an inspiring speaker and Sanctified count themselves lucky if they have the opportunity to hear one of his sermons (they’re extremely rare). The Invictus knows that he’s sworn an Oath of Fealty to the King and that he possess an Oath of Fealty from the Marquis of Albuquerque and the Prince of Reno. He’s extremely diligent about visiting the cities of his Hold and regularly makes rounds, although not as regularly as his Herald.

Rumors: He’s one step from a war with the Overlord of the Heartland over San Antonio. He’s blood bound to the Bishop’s Council which is why he always seems to bow to their desires. He was once an infiltrator for the Invictus, but Lancea Sanctum brainwashing techniques made him a true believer. He’s personally talked to a childe of Saint Daniel where he learned a ritual to keep his blood from aging. He secretly intends to work with the Overlord of the Heartland to take control of the western United States from the King. He has a secret cell of Acolytes highly skilled in scrying who always spy on a city before he goes and listen for nights before his arrival to make sure no plots are in the works. He was responsible for the Indian Removal Act of 1830.

Description: Joachim is a man of obvious Mexican heritage, or maybe it’s Spanish - his blood is certainly old enough for that. Despite being sort of short, he carries himself with an old-world sort of dignity and always seems to consider his words before he speaks, which just makes his words carry all the more weight. His features are fine to the point of sharp or hawkish, which makes his occasional very dry humor very easy to miss. He’s always dressed in crisply pressed slacks, shirt and jacket. He rarely wears a tie.
