A reserved Asian girl, Sasha grew up in the '90s in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. In school, Sasha was a dedicated student, studying maths, English and science diligently. At home, she was an obedient daughter, which in most cases meant excelling in school and being respectful to her parents. From all outward appearances Sasha was going to join the ranks of immigrant Asians, graduating from high school and University before contributing to society by joining the white-collar workforce - another cog in the wheel.

This fate was adverted however when Sasha discovered a love for theatre, both as part of the audience and then as a performer during the last two years of her secondary education.

Taking extra-curriculum classes, Sasha honed her theatrical skills; her passion for life finding expression in at last on stage.
It was at the urges of her teachers and friends that Sasha applied for a Theatrical Arts course in the Victorian College of Arts. Much to her family's horror, Sasha was accepted.

Sasha's family had very traditional upper-middle class values and they abhorred the idea that their daughter was to continue such "frivolity" in University.
"A hobby's all well and good," Sasha's mother said to the school's career counselor, "but it's really time for Sasha to grow up and start thinking of her future."

Sasha tried bargaining with her parents, promising to go to any University of their choice, but asked that she be allowed to study Theatre Arts on the side. They flatly refused. Having been raised with strong filial values, Isra submitted her parent's wishes.

Whilst studying computer science at the University of Melbourne, Sasha did not neglect her love for the theatre. Whenever her studies permitted, she participated in the student theatre group (STG for short), both in performing and in back-stage support.
In her first year participating in the STG Sasha met John. He would be the catalyst that starts the chain of events that takes her to Atlanta.
Although of the same age, John Nicojivic had a presence and a self-confidence that shone on stage and drew every eye in the audience. However when asked for the source of his presence, John was hard pressed to explain. He told Sasha that it was "just the way it was".
Out of admiration for him, and in an attempt to gain the same presence on stage, Isra began imitating John's lifestyle. One such imitation was kendo practice.
In addition to being a part of the STG, John was also a member of the Uni's kendo team. When she found out, Sasha immediately signed herself up for beginner's class at the University's kendo club. It doesn't really need saying that the classes didn't help Sasha gain the attention she was looking for. It did, however help her build some stamina and body co-ordination. Evening kendo practices and regular attendance to the dojo was added to her daily regime.

The childish crush notwithstanding, John's existence in Sasha's life did prove beneficial to her, and life-altering.
Disregarding Sasha's bizarre infatuation, John had taken a liking to Sasha and often acts as a big brother for her. Offering advice and being a sounding board on those rare occasions Sasha needed it were some of his self-professed duties. After finding out Sasha's love for the theatre, and her parent's rejection, John took it upon himself to help Sasha develop a backbone and think for herself. In the three years Sasha studied Computer Science in the University of Melbourne, she also learnt the difference between being respectful of her parent's wishes and blind obedience.

United States

Three years and a Science Degree later, Sasha headed to Carrollton, Georgia. To her parents, Sasha was going to the United States for a Masters Degree in Computer Science. Although this was partially true, in reality Sasha was to begin the Masters Program for Theatre Arts at the University of West Georgia; three years of partial independence – and the influence of one bohemian individual – had given Sasha enough of a courage to tell the biggest lie of her life.

The next three years at the University of West Georgia not only polished Sasha's hidden talent on stage; it helped her understand herself more. Away from the influences of her family, Sasha allowed herself to live more fully, to drink more deeply the experiences Uni life offered her; something she had not dared to do when she was under the strict observations of her parents.
Meeting new people and having new experiences gave Sasha a broader view on life. Gradually, her acting skills benefitted from her widened perspectives. Her character portrayals became more solid and realistic as she drew upon her interactions with other people. Actual compassion and understanding of each character's frame of mind allowed Sasha to make her characters living, breathing human beings; and it is these passionate characters that captivated the heart of her audience.

It was during this time that Sasha met Nathan Davis...

Requiem

After her sire's death, Isra had been reluctant to move from the house where she spent the first year of her requiem; too much had happened there. But practicality (and a lack of funds to maintain the mansion) won through in the end, and with a heavy heart, she began to look around for a suitable haven.
She still had her own apartment from her living days but that was unsuitable as it was both far from the city centre and the likelihood of meeting acquaintances from her previous life was too high. It was only after a long list of realtors that Isra found the perfect place - The Havana.

The Havana was actually an old inn which had been refurbished into an off-campus student's quarter. With her connections (and her enrolment in the University) it wasn't hard for Isra to get an apartment in the complex - to buy it out actually. She had the place fully furbished within a week of finding it and moved in soon after.

The apartment she chose was on the top floor and at the front of the building. To get to it, you have to pass through the main entrance of The Havana and turn to the elevators on the right of the lobby.
Students regularly goes up and down those elevators and rarely would the elevator be able to travel the height of the building without stopping at one or two of the floors on the way. When the elevator doors open at any of the floors you would see a riot of students carousing in the corridors - either chatting to each other down the hall, or throwing things from one opened bedroom door to another.

This changes when you arrive at the top floor.
Occupied by the wealthier (or the more serious) of the students, each of the rooms were actually apartment sized so there isn't any students piling out into the hallway. These apartments were more private however, and had sound-proofing installed, so one could ever be sure that what /goes on/ behind closed doors aren't wilder that what was happening downstairs.

And it is on this floor that Isra's apartment is located.
Upon opening the door, you'll be greeting with the sight of modestly sized living room, with a set of iron-railing stairs on the left leading up to the mezzanine floor.
Going up the stairs, you will see a chaise lounge placed on the top landing next to the railing over-looking the living room. A corridor to the right of the chaise leads on to the study, bathroom and bedroom.

A complete stranger Isra had met at a bar, James Fernández started off on her list as potential herd material. But his usefulness as a lawyer came to light pretty much as the same time Isra realized she needed a retainer. After a short period of observation and consideration, Isra begin taking steps in making him her pet.
Although his job is mainly behind the scenes, from time to time James can be seen taking a walk around the park with Isra on his arm. This usually occurs for no more reason than because Isra feels the desire to be seen with a pretty face. And a pretty face he is.
