Description

Both the Union's local headquarters and the hiring hall reside in a squat, ugly concrete building a few blocks down from the piers in East Docks. It's fairly nondescript except for a small, dirtied and dull sign that proclaims it the home of the International Longshoreman's and Warehouse Union, Local Chapter 81. The main entrance leads directly into the hiring hall and usually has no small number of dockworkers and stevedores waiting around to get a work ticket to unload a ship.

Ducking off to one side is a little hallway leading to the various bureaucratic offices and the Secretary-Treasurer's office. It's not uncommon to see some of the higher-ups in Carcosa's organized crime world traversing these halls regularly, but Treasurer Sergei "Fat Boris" Petrovic seems to only deal with a very few select people directly.

Benefit

Customs? What Customs? Fat Boris may be corrupt, stealing, lying, and cheating at every chance he gets to line his own pockets and his Union's coffers, but he's also probably the most knowledgable man about what happens on the docks. He knows when ships are coming in. He knows whats on them and he knows which ones customs officers are going to check. A character with this site benefit using any of the "Intercept small shipments of goods, animals or machinery" allies actions will automatically evade any police sting operations, and gains 1d6 of the item in question instead of the usual 1d4.
