Originally created as a University to help their sons avoid the draft, Hawthorn University has become a premiere University in the area. It is split into two seperate colleges, one for Business and one for Medical. There's even the best Hospital around located on campus, Hawthorn University Hospital, which lures in the top doctors of the area because of it's wealthy surroundings.

For students, it's nearly impossible to keep up with all of the activities going about on campus. The inter-faculty politics and the student interests are far too intricate for the casual observer to keep up with. And, even the most ambitious students will find themselves spread too thin if they try to immerse themselves in more than one school.

The politics between the faculties, at the highest level, are again frustrating and complicated. The institution is prestigious, but also privately funded. This means tuition, while high, is also restricted, and often the school's funding often disappears into various administrative channels (though they simply ask for more donations from their Alumni). The heads of each College fight viciously over the donation money to fund their pet research projects and favored faculty members.

The students themselves are rather typical to the snotty class of the area, and often oblivious to the machinations of those above them. People who want to manipulate students would be advised to look at the bigger picture and see that the real power of the area is the actual faculty and what they can provide.
