A Haruspex acts, in essense, as an advisor, informing the Circle of the Crone of the will and favors of their Gods. He sees the will of the Gods in all aspects of divination and has the responsibility of passing this information on to the Acoyltes. This is a large responsibilty that comes with the temptation to move the Circle to the Haruspex' whims but to do so would bring down the anger of not only the Gods but also the Hierophant on his head.

Haruspex have also been called Augurs, Cassandras, Ovates, Seers or Sibyls.
