Description
Most people never see what’s underneath their feet. Most people don’t care. That’s even more the case of people who go to the Golden Dragon to see and be seen, to lose and make fortunes. But under the massive steel and concrete construct is an entirely different world. The huge concrete pillars become boundaries instead of supports; the monolithic steel beams become shelter instead of footing.
The rumbling sound of cars driving overhead echoes underneath constantly, masking the dull crunch and squish of flesh destroying flesh; this is where the bare knuckle boxing enthusiasts meet. This is where the duels of Carcosa take place; not with guns and ten paces but with fist against face. Some come to fight just for fun, some come to fight to solve their arguments and some use it as a painful escape from reality.
Every Friday night matches are made, bets are placed and concrete pillars mark out the ring; and if that’s not enough, willing bodies are more than willing to shove someone back into the ring. Most of the participants are street level sorts looking for their own entertainment on the Ecclesia strip, but it’s not unusual to see men stripping off blazers and ties to step into the ring.
It’s very rare that someone dies in these matches, but it’s not unheard of; especially if that someone was already marked for death before entering the ring. The people who attend accept it as part of the risk, and maybe the most exciting part of the risk. After all, lives are cheap in Carcosa.
