Description
This casino is just another amid the neon lights of the Hive Ward strip. The Golden Dragon is openly known to be run by the Chinese triads though which makes gambling there a little cleaner or a little dirtier depending on your view point. The building is decorated in a golden theme as the name would imply. Its front doors are golden and red with the lighting coming from myriad Chinese lanterns.
Inside red carpet twisted with gold covers every available floor space. The main doors take you right into the electronic game area of the casino. The sound of bells are always dinging as is the musical noise of electronically simulated coins dropping into buckets – long since has the casino moved to paper ticket printouts though.
To the right is the concierge and hotel check in area, it’s not unusual to see lines of people waiting to get a room but most of the time things move pretty fast. To the left is a pair of large double doors which leads to a stage and auditorium area. Live acts of renown are always showing at the Golden Dragon.
Like most hotel-casinos the Golden Dragon sports several Chinese-themed retail stores, restaurants and nightclubs. However the main draw of the Golden Dragon is the almost-nightly Chinese New Year. On every Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights the Golden Dragon hosts a huge party at midnight. Chinese-dragons, acrobats and geisha-styled dancers move through the casino to the banging of drums and symbols, eventually ending just outside the casino on the street. It’s cumulated in a fireworks show during the tourist season nightly at 1am.
