Before Atlanta

Born during winter, which was unusual at the time many remarked. Babies in the winter rarely survived but this one did. He was raised as an only child in a family with moderate income. His father owed a moderate sized plantation in rural Georgia called Oak Hills.

The first seventeen years of Emmett’s life were unremarkable; it wasn't until the War Between the States that every thing changed for him. At 17 Emmett was full of pomp an pride went off to join the confederate army to fight for his way of life. However, Four years of fighting turned a boy into a man real fast, there’s nothing quite like seeing dead bodies fall all around you in a haze of musket smoke and knowing the only way you’re going to survive is to cover yourself with the fallen body of a comrade and pretend to be dead to realize that the days of yesteryear are truly gone.

When Emmett returned to his plantation in 1866, a year after the war ended, he was a changed person. His mother had died of influenza in his absence and his father was ill himself. Emmett didn't even bother protesting when he was called upon to take over the plantation. He didn't protest when he was pressed into attending abominable boring dinner parties to look for a wife.

He wedded a wealthy window who had her owned lands, an times being what they were he took over management of her properties as well. Content to surround himself with his wealth, his slaves and his dogs. His first son was born a year after the wedding, and twin daughters soon followed. Life was good. The two years later his wife conceived once again and it was hoped that another boy may be brought into the family. The laboring was difficult and mother and child died.

Grief-stricken by his loss Emmett took to visiting the local brothels, one of which was owned by Bridget Connelly.

1874

His raw sexuality and lust for life that first attracted Bridget to him. By then he was deemed one of the most eligible widowers around. Already estranged from his family it was no great shock to them when he became even more nocturnal and secretive after the embrace.

Shortly after the embrace to help learn the rules he takes an 8 year oath of defence to Linus Walker, and his time is served mostly without mishaps.

1882

Bridget throws a bash to celebrate his successful Manumission. It’s ruined by werewolves. This attack makes him fear for his own unlife and that of his sires and he realizes how little of vampiric combat he knows. He decides to seek combat training in Richmond, Virginia. Knowing Bridget may not approve he assures her it's due to his family becomming suspiceous an leaves.

1883

A year after his arrival. Emmett is accepted as squire into an elite soldiers guild called the Contubernia Virginia.

1884

He earns his first 'stripes' a great honor, as he's considered a full fledged member. He begins to learn the blade along with furthering his studies into heraldry, and the codes and honor of the guild.

1886

His domineering personality and strict moral code help him to rise in status, and he and his companions are charged with protecting His Grace, becoming an almost elite body guard.

1889

When his superior decides to leave the guild in pursuit of knighthood, Emmett replaces him earning more 2 more stripes.

1924

He joins the Fellowship of Artemis in Richmond.

1928

Unrest and concern for his plantation holdings that bring him back to Atlanta.

1930

Emmett manages to hold onto his plantation during the great depression but barley. He borrows funds when possible and steals what he can from his victims. Borrowing from his sire he invests money into real estate, buying up farmland at rock bottom prices whenever he can. Once land values start to increase he sells off a little to repay Bridgett, and disheartend with the real estate and farming buisness, he holds onto his two plantations and invests in the texas oil feilds.

1932

Claiming to miss the sound of hounds, he summons the younger kindred James William Hopkins, to teach him animalisem and begings to breed hunting dogs. An takes a bull mastiff as his seal.

1942

Emmett and James William Hopkins establish a devision of the Fellowship of Artemis. A weekend retreat is offerd to kindred of prestige at the time, at his Oak Hills Plantation. The first night is the hunt, the second night is a ball in period garb.

1962

When Bridget is granted embrace rights, his annoyance is plain. Although he does seem to warm up to the child she embraces Charles Winston and they are seen occasionaly together.

1971

Emmett expresses his intrest in the carthian Eveline Carr, but is spurned due to her intrest in William Talbit. The event is not well known an Emmett belives his personality could not be the fault, so he secretly blames Talbit.

1972

Bridgett's childe turns out to be a failure he has a smug look. Some whisper that it was his doing that the childe turned out to be such a failure, but nothing is ever proven.

1979

When Bridgett is struck by a strange affliction that nearly brings to her to knees and gashes appear, he appears torn an his first instinct is to comfort her. But relations have been strained between them and although he does eventually seek to comfort her, he doesn't do so publicly.

1984

Emmett is often a source of Bridget's jabs in the Elysium and she nearly drives him to frenzy often. He avoids the Elysium an takes an interest in other kindred.

1986

Talbit's shipping company folds. He suspects foul play and investigates heavily, but fails to discover the perpetrator.

1990

Emmett continues to invest in oil as his primary income. He also hosts christmas balls, and various other seasonal parties at his expansive planation house.

1997

Eveline Carr, calls Emmett and they repair their differnces and agree to put the past behind them.
