  • If nothing else, Herzog is an eccentric. He claims simultaneously to be the oldest vampire who still walks in the City (indeed, perhaps in the entire nation), yet also maintains that he was "born" within this century. Nobody who has inquired has truly found a to relate the two and make sense of his quite contradictory claims.
  • His lineage is also suspect -- He claims it to be filled of the worst sort of vampires: Diablerists, blasphemous sorcerers, monsters, perhaps even draugr. He claims that he can trace the lineage back to its absolute source in Rome, and offers to explain each step in his lineage, although most are not want to listen to it. No one has ever met his sire, and the Fog of Eternity seems to have had its effect on Herzog. One of the most disturbing stories he tells of his lineage is how each new childe has diablerized its predecessor over the millenia he claims that it has stretched. So, what of Emil Herzog's sire? Yet the accusation has never been levied.
  • The circumstances of Emil Herzog's introduction into Carcosa's politics have not been forgotten completely. Part of why his lineage is so suspect is his seeming age and potency of blood, yet the fact that no one remembers him from any time before the late nineties, when he was found in torpor and awoke to the astonishment of the vampires (of the Ordo Dracul) who had happened upon him. Further astonishment lay in the fact he already demonstrated knowledge in one coil. He provided no explanation to his torpor -- It is entirely possible that he had been in torpor for a very short time, having chosen to do so after acts of diablerie. Or perhaps his claims to age are true?
• Ordo Dracul Knowledge:
  • Herzog has a both contrary and working relationship with the Primogen, Lana Zamoldchikova Dr. Zamoldchikova. They are rumored to both be masters of the arts of the min, and work towards honing each other through tests of mental acuity, even in front of the Elysium as display to those who witness them. Yet no one understands the two well enough to know who truly has the upper hand.
  • No one knows whom Herzog first learned it from, but it is known he exhibits a rarefied control over his own Beast that is quite remarkable to some, elementary to the most august of scholars amongst the order of the Dragon. He is recognized as a Supplicant and having unlocked the first tier of the Coil of the Beast, but whether or not his methods were truly the same as those within the Ordo Dracul is unknown. Indeed, some whisper that he has mastered not the Coil at all, but some secret ritual refined by diablerie. He does not deny these claims, although nor does he comment on them at all (no one has made them to his face).
