Location: Paradigm Plaza (Ecclesia) Predatory Taint: +2 Exterior Channel: Plaza Park
Atmosphere: Calm
This is a neutral environment. It is not particularly active but not especially lethargic either. It could swing toward aggression or alarm when given significant impetus, but it remains steady until something pushes it in either direction. Behavior and responses are reasonable, and outsiders are judged on their actions and not their familiarity.
Effects
The Building grant's everything in it +2 Presence via the Geomantic Nexus. Everything seems more "real" then real and more "beautiful" Passions tend to run higher, burn hotter and last longer.
The Eden Club
The Eden club, is not exactly "goth," it's not exactly "trendy" it's not "exactly" anything. What it is is intense. The overt, some would say "over the top" grandeur masks a sinister subtlety and the promise of paradise through dark indulgence is delivered with an artistic reverence and shrewd, calculated contrivance.
The patrons of Eden come from all walks of life, much like addiction to any drug. However, the local is favored by the upper class pretending to be lower class and the middle class pretending to be upper class (pretending to be lower class). There is an unspoken truce in the "Class War" in the club. Eden is where the Elite of Carcosa go to "get away with it," and for the last decade, they have.
Description
The Approach
The entire club is four stories tall the first two the main, open air dance floor and main stage, the 3rd, and 4th floors are typically reserved.
Located on the North end of Paradigm Plaza in Ecclesia, the Club sits just off the main strip of Plaza Park overlooking the bay; far enough away to be considered trendily "away from it all" but close enough to be accessible.
From the outside the Club looks as if MC Escher and Salvador Dali got in an argument about what a box should look like. Yet there is something attractive about the simplistic design. The edifice has an almost siren like quality, comfortably radiating a dark power.
Etched into the cement as one walks to the "gates" appears to be an engraving of a broken sword, the last of it's flames feebly sputtering around the hilt as it lays cast down and defeated upon the ground.
The Entrance Hall
Two carved Doors of prismatic crystal glass open into the entrance area, Lights glitter in odd, slightly hypnotic patterns across the ceiling, plants line the walls of the inside botanical garden. A few steps in sits a large sculpted Western Style Dragon. Carved from dark green crystal, surrounded by beautiful foliage, the 12’ statue sits atop a stone fountain carved to resemble the felled trunk of a mighty tree. The beasts’ body lay coiled protectively around a large, gleaming red apple barring the inscription Quod Scientia Subverto, Vi Veri Scientia est Remaneo (“That which knowledge has destroyed, by the power of knowledge is remade.”) The expression carved upon the serpent’s crystalline features is one of self satisfaction, smug yet inviting, daring you, to come partake of it’s treasure.
The walls all shine with a wavy reflective property, casting blurred reflections in odd chromatic directions. To get even a vaguely accurate reflection one has to walk right up to the wall. This is convenient as first time visitors often get lost in staring at themselves for a few minutes, this way they do so off to the side, not blocking the thoroughfare. The reflective coating lines most of the walls and support pillars in the building, casting dark rainbows and diffusing the light so that the entire place seems to glow faintly, and (purely incidentally) rendering flash photography anywhere in the club, an exercise in futility.
The Bar Area
The water pouring from the Dragon Statue, runs down a small ivy entwined aqueduct to the Bar. The bar spans the entire length of the western wall. The fixture itself is made of stone, a glass covered divot runs through the middle where the fountain water runs the length of the bar over small artfully placed stones and miniature beaches like a tiny river. At the end of the bar, the water it cascades down a waterfall into the decent sized indoor pond, complete with koi and greenery.
A few cozy tables with high chairs line the upper deck, looking over foliage clad, 4 foot high wall and down at the dance floor. There's even a few dining tables tucked away in a corner for those that wish to sample the limited and relatively unremarkable cuisine produced in the clubs modest little kitchen.
The Dance Floor
As one steps down the stairs into the dry ice fogged dance area they are hit with a sudden increase in the volume of the music, which so far has been kept at bay by the upper deck retaining wall and some well placed quirks of acoustical architecture. The pulse of the music hammers harder some how keeping time with the heart beat, lights arc through the fog, people, who a moment ago had been merely an arms length away are suddenly whisked away into the excitement and someone new and beautiful is in their place. Alcoves extend around the room, giving small shelters against the storm of sound and energy that swirls around them as tired patrons heave to catch their breath. Passions run high in Eden, too high at times and it’s not entirely uncommon for people to dance themselves into exhaustion or even get caught in the alcoves going a bit beyond “polite dancing.”
The Main stage, flanked by two ginormous speakers is often set up for a light display that flickers a hypnotic dance. A DJ spins beats at just about all hours of the day. On occasion live bands perform there as well, often giving performances in Eden unrivaled anywhere else in their careers.
The Upstairs
Accessible by either the elevator in the back or a the set of stairs near the back of the Bar area, Three Fourths of the third floor is Catwalks and scaffolding, stretching out over the dance floor high above the crowd and cloaked in shadows. Here VIP’s can rise above the throng while gazing down at the enspelled dancers. Four massive dry ice vents lazily billow a cascade of vaporous fog, which falls upon the crowd.
Various sections hang down to 2nd floor level such as lowerable "Go-Go" cages, harnesses and other performance style accouterments.
The other quarter of the 3rd floor is the meeting room and lounge. The Mangers office nestles unobtrusively against the wall, hanging down to the 2nd floor, it’s large, one way glass window gazing down at the club like a decidedly smug seeming Cyclops wearing reflective sunglass(es).
To get upstairs you have to "know someone." And in Eden that means "know a Vampire." It is not uncommon for Kindred to bring influential mortals up to the Catwalks to impress and/or seduce them. The Lounge and Meeting room are often used for private discussions, Each containing several overly comfortable chairs.
The 4th floor is private. Only Owners and their personal guests are allowed in this area. It contains a private meeting area, and 3 small but well furnished bedroom suites.
Additional Notes
The club's design is bizarre to say the least, despite the Judeo-Christian theme of the Garden of Eden, small Icon's to just about any deity you can imagine are secreted away all over the place, under tables, on walls, pillars, carved into the foot of the stage, there is even one on set of shot glasses. From Ishtar to Kali from Zeus to Set, every "god" has a home in Eden. There's also enough obscure occult glyphs and symbols to give a hard core Da Vinci Code fan a stiffy. The occulted little scavenger hunt seems to hold some sort of coded message, but whatever that message is, is anyone's guess.
