Diamond Drive

Location: Swordfish Way (Amptons)     Predatory Taint: 0 (Unless outside of Rock Garden)

Atmosphere: Welcoming
Welcoming locations are both more active than Accepting locations and more mercurial. Likely environments include underground raves, meetings of secret societies, impromptu drum circles, biker gatherings, and the like. Some places, which require either an invitation or some secret information to find, assume that those who are there share some common interest, ideal, or understanding, and therefore are places where one’s guard can be lowered. Others, whether due to naïveté or an impressive amount of faith and trust in humanity, simply happily welcome any who find them. Both environments, however, can turn ugly very quickly when the most meager of slights is committed. Whether an accidental signal that tells others that the outsider isn’t supposed to be there or a taboo behavior or simply ruining the party, all such acts are punishable with snubbing, expulsion, mockery, or even attack depending on the mood and lifestyle of those present.

Description

Diamond Drive, so named for the multitude of mansion-communities that spring off of it to their own sprawling estates, probably could have been paved with bits of diamonds. It wasn't though, mostly because while those in the area live in ridiculously expensive, sprawling estates, their holdings still pale in comparison to those to the south in Plymouth Point.

This street is the address of many celebrities and well-known Carcosians, which tends to attract some few gawkers, but if you own property off of the street, generally it's got an iron fence and security on the grounds, anyway, to keep people from poking around too much. That being said, Carcosa has a city ordinance forbidding paparazzi and their ilk from coming to the area, so generally it's just tourists who make the trek over to see the house of their favorite famous person.

It is not uncommon for new residents to be moving in and out of the area, and one can always tell when a nasty divorce case is happening - streams of moving trucks and exotic cars head up and down the road to their new destination somewhere else.
