Detroit

The automotive production lines still don’t stop in Motor City, even while other industries get outsourced abroad. Still, the factories empty, and the buildings get left behind. The blue-collar population falls into unemployment and discontent. The city is divided by 6 Mile, 7 Mile and 8 Mile Roads into the haves and the have-nots. On the (literal) wrong side of the tracks, the city has the worst crime rate in the United States. Nearly half of Detroit’s people are functionally illiterate. The Carthian Prefect, still new to the job, sees the opportunities for the undead in a city where the living are lost to decay and crime. Still, this doesn’t explain why so many of the empty buildings that pepper the city’s surface serve as temporary havens for neonate Kindred who only just came here. It’s as if some force is drawing people to Detroit, some of whom have no idea why they are here, only that they had to come.
