Dante Timeth
1974 – Dante Timeth is born to a loving family in the continually growing city of Carcosa. His dad was a district attorney for the city, and his mom was a pharmaceutical specialist. Dante was encouraged to be outgoing and active as early as age 3. To this day Dante remembers his dad taking him to the park regularly, in the gated community of Westview where they lived, and playing with the other kids who seemed easily led.
1978 – Even as young as 4, Dante's stubbornness showed. He was a good kid but once he set his mind to something, it was very hard to change it. His parents wanted him to play football, and started pushing him towards it. However, Dante didn't like the sport and thought that even though he was rather quick, his small size would hold him back. It didn't take long for his parents to realize that trying to force him was useless. It kinda hurt his dad's feelings that he didn't like football, but once he saw how good at gymnastics Dante was, it made him feel better. Though Dante trained and conditioned his body, it wasn't enough for him become great. This didn't discourage him, Dante had a very never say never attitude. Dante continued to train right up until that dreadful day that changed his life forever.
1982 – Then it all changed, on March 14, 1982 the day that Dante will remember forever. Dante remembers the morning like it was yesterday, and even to this day he has nightmares about it. It was just any other day for Dante, but he knew it was a big day for his dad. He was prosecuting some big wig mafia dude. They were all going to the car, It was a nice sunny day. His mom and dad were inside the car, waiting for Dante, who was about to get in. He stopped to run back and grab a toy he’d left in the yard. Just as he bent to pick up the toy, he heard the car start to crank. Then there was a explosion, and Dante was blown well over 15ft from where he was standing. The next thing he remembers is waking up in the arms of the neighbor lady. Her husband had seen it all, as he was walking to his car. After being treated for his minor injuries Dante was placed in protective custody. This didn't last long - Dante couldn't really testify to anything, but the police didn't want to take a chance.
1983 – After being released from protective custody Dante was sent to live with his maternal grandmother. His fathers family didn't want anything to do with him; they didn't have anything to do with his father either since he married his mom, who they all felt was beneath them. This was all well and good with Dante considering he didn't like their snobbish asses anyway. But his mom's mom - Grammy, as he called her - was as cool as a fan. Unfortunately, even with the insurance money Grammy's way of living increased only moderately, which meant on top of the traumatic event Dante had just experienced he also went from being rich to poor. Nevertheless moving from a gated community in Westview to even the nicest apartment building in Preston was one helluva change for Dante. Though his parents left him a rather large trust fund, he was unable to touch it until he turned 20. This has left Dante with mixed feelings, frustrations and anger toward his parents, because with that money he and Grammy could live well. Dante and his Grammy always had a strong relationship and thats probably the only reason Dante never turned to the hardcore criminal elements that surrounded him. For a while he still visited with his pals from Westview, but eventually the visits slowed, then stopped as he grew apart from them. The gap was filled, however by kids from his new school, and the kids in Grammy's apartment building. This was the what caused the biggest change in Dante. He went from being a clean cut rich kid, to running with more of a street crowd. Not all of them had his same sense of morality, but most respected him and he didn't let them push them around. Since his change in lifestyle, he could no longer afford to go to the gymnastics academy, but since he was athletic and needed the outlet, he settled for taking up kung fu, in nearby Chinatown. His Grammy had a taste for romance novels, and so Dante often stopped by a bookstore near the kung fu school in order to grab her a novel or two - in this way he struck up a friendship with Mr. Johnson, the shop owner.
1989 – His friendship with Mr Johnson, the bookstore owner, turned out to be a boon, as once Dante turned 15, Mr Johnson offered him a job. Dante had never really paid the store itself much attention - he just came in, got the books and chatted for the most part - but after working at the store for a few months, Dante began to notice that Mr. Johnson stocked some odd books. His curiosity piqued, during the slow times Dante began to look through the books, which were about the occult. He found it really interesting, and expressed this interest to Mr. Johnson, who he discovered knew a good bit about it as well. They began to have long, fascinating discussions on the various aspects of occult that Dante discovered, and as he learned more he found he was also able to discuss things with the various clients who came in for these occult books. Dante soon found that the was particularly interested leylines and the way they affect the world around us, so he soon began to focus in that area and read more about them.
1991 – When Dante turned 17 tragedy struck again, Grammy fell ill, and it took the doctors almost a year to find out what was wrong with her. In late April of 1992, Grammy was diagnosed with brain cancer. This was extremely hard on Dante, as he had already lost so much in his life and was loathe to lose anymore, particularly the woman who had become his anchor. With Grammy sick, he became the sole provider in the house, which was difficult given that it was a struggle to keep his school work up, and work full time. But, his strength and determination saw him through, and he graduated. Sadly, he ended up having to quit the book store to find a better job. He had some friends that had been bugging him to come work with them - they worked for a casino owner in Midtown, an Asian chick named Lili Wu. Though Dante knew that his friends did "jobs" for Lili that were less then reputable, he wasn't really interested in following their path. After talking with Lili, he took on a straightforward runner job, and the money he'd be making would help out Grammy. But soon it became clear that the money he needed to make was not in running - it was in the more "physical" jobs, in the jobs which involved some "intimidation" that he was trying to avoid. With Grammy's health steadily declining, and the medical costs not getting any cheaper, Dante decided it was time to step up his game. So he took the next job that needed the physical "touch". His ability to handle these kinds of "jobs" impressed the boss, Ms Wu, and naturally resulted in more money to help Grammy. At this point Lili started keeping a closer eye on his progress and began to take him under her own wing. She started giving him more important packages that needed to come directly to her, took that time to get to know more about him, had him start to learn Mandarin, and began to instill a sense of secrecy and loyalty.
1994 – Once again Dante found himself in the midst of change. One month before he was to turn 20 and finally come into his inheritance, Lili offered him the gift of all gifts to tie him to her: immortality. He accepted the dark gift from Lili without hesitiation - after all she had become the mother figure in his life over the last 2 years, nurturing and grooming him, and he had certainly seen more than enough death in his young life to know that he didn't want it for himself. And so began a new phase in Lili's teaching - unlife. Lili kept Dante hidden away, training him, continuing to reinforce her ideals of secrecy and loyalty, as well as bringing him into the Tian Di Hui. After that she took a year to slowly integrate Dante into the Kindred Society. During this time Dante was introduced to people from each covenant, and encouraged to talk to them and inform himself in order to make a wise choice in covenant. The only covenant he didn't actively talk to was the Lancea Sanctum, he knew from what he'd been told about them he wasn't interested. But, the moment he spoke at any length with person from the Ordo Dracul, he knew that was where he belonged. After all, his entire life had been shrouded in change. His choice seemed to please Lili on the surface, but Dante wondered if he caught a glimpse of regret that he had not chosen to follow her into the Carthian way. He found her training invaluable when it came to integrating himself into unlife as a dragon, as the order valued the same principles of secrecy and loyalty. For the most part Dante stuck to himself, integrating into the Ordo for the next year or so. He would only go out and about once in awhile, and only in places frequented by mortals, where he remained quietly in the background, choosing to watch rather than interact with them. It is during this time that he completes his initiations into the Ordo. Despite his new life, Dante doesn't forsake Grammy he continues to visit her in the hospital and pay for the bill. However no longer being “welcome” in Preston, Dante moved into a house in Oceanfront, pepperdine to be specific.
1998 – During this time Dante makes his first break through in the Great work. He learns the first stage of the coil of blood, with the help of the Grand Wrym, Alexander Castillo. This break through solidifies Dante's place in the covenant, his rank increases from slave to supplicant. Its was also Alexander that put, Dante in contact with Trey Copeland, who accepts Dante as his student. During the first session of training, Trey puts Dante through a series of test's, one of which reveals that Dante can sense and commune with spirits. Considering this is not something Dante pursued, and the most recent traumatic event was his embrace, they chalk it up to that. Dante remerges onto the social scene more promiently. He starts frequenting Elysium, and other known kindred hang outs, but doesn't make any major moves.
1999 – Coming out of one of the many clubs in Carcosa, Dante is cornered by a small group of spear members. Thompson Zargosa, Peter Silverton and Heinrik start harassing Dante, and it looks like he's about to be the first victim of their newfound streak of violence. Fortunately for Dante, Xaviera Vallejo exited the club before anything could happen. With the numbers no longer on their side, the spear simply backed off and left Dante alone. This was a real wake up call for Dante, it taught him to be more careful and instilled a since of paranoia.
2000 – So things had been going fairly smoothly, spear run in kinda scary, but a lesson well learned. Then tragedy strikes again, however Dante felt it was coming. For the past month Grammy had been feeling better, she had been sitting up and talking more. She had all her friends come see her, and then all of a sudden she passed away. She had called Dante that day to make sure he was coming to see her later that night. This should have been a tip off because he always visited her on Monday nights, and she never called to check. He showed up just like always, and they had a really good talk for about 6 hours. Then when he awoke the next night the call was waiting for him, Grammy had passed on. Dante being being the only family she had left, made sure the burial arrangements were took care of.
2004 – 2004 was big for Dante, unfortunately not particularly in the way he wanted. Having previously set up living arrangements with Vander Corvus. He now arranged to build some influence in the Pepperdine fief. Dante did this so that he could start his new business venture, a karaoke bar. He was so very proud when he opened it up, and he was equally disappointed when it went belly up. The place was opened for about 8 months before going under, and the worse part for Dante was the mocking he took from the recently released, Jillian Dawson. For a while there is tension between them but it always remained civil. Unknown to the rest of the kindred, Dante finds out that his sire was behind his business failing. This pisses Dante off to no end, and he ends contact with Lili for about a year. Dante approaches the Kogaion in hopes to help with any mapping of the city that needs to be done. Bernard rejects him due to the recent public spot light being on him and the fact that he is only a supplicant. Immediately this angers Dante, but after thinking about it he realizes Bernards right and he starts working harder on learning his coil, as well as letting the spot light fade.
2007 – Late in the year, after brutal training and hard work, Dante learns the first tier of coil of banes from his Mentor. The spot light has faded a good bit, and seems Jillian has grown tired of her continued mocking of him. Now a scribe and the spotlight a lot dimmer, he prepares to approach Bernard again. Bernard agrees to start training him how to map, up till now most of his duties have been guard this, guard that type stuff. He also spent a lot of time studying and researching ghost and spirits. Once again tragedy strikes, Bernard ends up getting killed, only after a month of working with Dante, which makes Dante wonder if the world itself isn't against him. The Grand Wyrm approaches Dante about the maps but it was no good, Bernard hadn't started teaching him the code yet. With everything having to be started over, Dante takes the initiative to get started but its very slow going.
