Mortal Life

Born Diette Notole Mode om March 18, 1976 to Darren and Notole Mode. Diette was named after her maternal grandmother who passed away when her mother was child. Diette was the youngest of five children, three brothers and one sister. Diette was not a difficult child, in fact there was nothing about her that made her really stand out from her siblings. Her parents worked from home, but often would stay in thier attic office for hours and hours, leaving the kids to their own entertainment in their large suburban home. Diette was just as content playing cops and robbers and the like with her brothers as she was playing tea party or dolls with her sister. Often Diette was the doll herself in her sister's games. Diette didn't hate school, nor did she love it. She didn't excel or fail, Diette was just and average student, never in trouble, but never standing out. Diette was content with this existance, being a meer watcher to the lives of her brothers, who all went on to great things. One a professional Football player (Darren W. Mode), one a neuro sugrgen, (Warren P Mode), and the other a Journalist for the Wall Street Journal (Nicholas D. Mode). Diette decieded early on that her sisters domestic life was not for her, and that college was not the next step in her life. Instead, she packed up after graduation and headed to New York City to live with her father's cousin. Life with Rachael Mode was anything but glamorous for Diette, at first anyway. Racheal was a famous dog owner, and several of her prized Daushounds were Eukanuba world champions. Rachael breed and groomed her prized dogs, and agreed to take Diette as an apprentice of sorts. Diette did all the dirty work in the begining, clipping nails, washing coats, cleaning up puppy messes and brushing teeth, but she showed and affinity to the dogs, as well as knack for the work. Rachael soon found Diette a part time job working for a high profile groomer and close family friend, with the hope that Diette would become her personal groomer. Diette worked hard, learning the ropes of grooming not only dogs, but cats and horses for shows as well. Diette seemed able to calm the most high strung animals, as well as their even higher strung masters. A sweet smile from her and most would melt.Diette dabbled in training show dogs, a side endevor for a few persons with extra money hoping to get into the show dog buisness. Diette was still and apprentice groomer when requests for her work started to trickle in. Once Rachael realized that she wouldn't have Diette as a personal groomer, she desided to use her to improve her own social standing in the world of high class dogs. It would be during this time that a distant relative would come out of the woodwork. "Aunt" Jessica took and imediate interest in Diette, who was both fashinable and practical. Jessica Vandercamp visited Diette on several occations, and the two corrisponded until December 26, 2001, when Jessica embraced Diette and wisked her away to Atlanta.

The begining of Unlife

Jessica Vandercamp moved Diette to Atlanta, bringing her to her large comfortable home. Diette was then told that she must take the name Vandercamp and change her name. Without much thought, Diette took the name of her childhood friend Clarissa Paige, who died of Cystic Fybrosis when the girls were 15. Clarissa Diette Vandercamp dove into her studies of unlife and the ways of the Invictus. Romantisized by the glamour and tradition she saw in its members. Clarissa enjoyed her position as paige, and looked forward to being released as a full member of the Invictus. Living in Jessica's grand house, being taken care of in every way possible was nice, for a time. Clarissa started to grow restless after five years with Jessica, and wanted her independance back. Taking a small side job as a trainer for family pets, Clarissa was able to put a bit of money away for that day of release she was waiting for. Even with Jessica's strict study policies and teaching methods, she seemed just as dispointed in Clarissa's progress as Clarissa was. Clarissa took a few steps in the wrong direction when she befriended a few Carthians, much to her sire's dismay and disapproval. Behind Jessica's back, Clarissa started a small dog training program. Before any steps to remedy Clarissa's lacking education could be taken, Jessica was found guilty of treason and hunted. Jessica fled Atlanta too fast to take her fledgling child with her. Leaving Clarissa with nothing but the expensive gifts she gave her years ago.

A Death in the Family

Clarissa was shocked to wake one night and find her home almost empty except for her room. Clarissa looked everywere for Jessica, including the lesser havens, with no luck. The prized art and pets were gone, as well as her beloved sire. Clarissa was lost for a while without Jessica, floundering in that empty home. It took Clarissa almost three weeks to work up the courage to sell what was left and find her own apartment.

Moving herself into a slummy studio, Clarissa found herself unable to part with the mustang or the few items of Jessica she had left. Her mustang was dented and scratched by her jealous neighbors, who were too frightened of her to steal the vehicle. The small, basment studio was dirty and dingy compared to the life Clarissa had lived, both in death and life. Clarissa found herself hating the place. After Jessica's exile, Clarissa found herself not only without a home or sire, but also without a covenant. The Invictus rejecting her was a devistating blow that Clarissa faced with as much dignity and calm as she could muster. When Senschal Parks told her that her "tainted" lineage was no longer welcome, Clarissa wasn't surprised, only hurt. The other members of the Invictus had been avoiding her for some time before the offical word came. The rejection only made Clarissa want to be part of it more. Clarissa threw her focus into her buisness, and her studies. Working under the tutalige of Khadija Carver a member of the Carthian Movement, with the hope that once released, she would be able to work back into the Invictus.

War

The beginnings of war were brewing under the surface, though Clarissa would not be aware of them until Senshal Veronica Parks and Invictus leader Robert Blake reassign her to a new mentor in the Ordo Dracul. Regina Davis proved to be a tough teacher, with higher expectaions and more studius methods than Clarissa was used to. Thinking that her former mentor was infuriated by her, Clarissa tried to apply herself to Miss Davis's methods, for fear of loosing another mentor to her poor study habits. Her buisness was taking off in small steps, when Sam Cohen gave her the use of his kennel, purchased for her buisness use, putting her in a conflicting position with the covenant she wants to rejoin, and the person who is helping her get on her feet and be independant. Clarissa gladly, and hesitantly took his help, still wondering what the future holds. She is warry of his kindness, and has made it clear that she hopes to purchas the kennel from him someday. For now, Clarissa is grateful for his friendship and hopes that he turns out to be genuine. Faced with a change in political rulers, the once Carthian city of Atlanta was once again in Invictus control. Clarissa hoped to help the Invictus and in turn regain her standing. Her mentor instructed her to stay neutral, less her actions harm her new mentor's neutrality. Clarissa agreed, but angerly watched her chance to rejoin slip away as the war went back to simmering under the surface.
