This is a good idea of a template to create your city with. Naturally, you could deviate (or add to!) if you'd like, but this will keep it all pretty standardized and not messy.

Overview
The section where you describe the city.
History
A section for city history, unless it was mentioned in the Overview section.
Kindred History
A good overview with what's transpired in the created city in the past, which is how it is how it is now in present-day. Make sure your dates match up with any history, since it'd be weird for your civil war to be off fifty years or so.
Kindred
This section can be broken down however you'd like. You could just have a section for the city-standings ala Savannah, Georgia, or you could go into detail on every individual section ala New York City, New York. It's up to you how you'd like to do it.

And here's where you list characters in a bulleted sort of format with who's come from this city.

- Stuff character was known for in the city here.
Last but not least, you'll want to add the following code at the bottom for the category, so your city shows up on the Cities of Origin category listings and people can find your hard work:
