Description

The CNN Center in Downtown happens to be the major news network’s headquarters. Hundreds of people can be in and around the CNN Center at any time, and major personas from the media and entertainment businesses can be found at just about any time of the day.

The center is actually directly connected to the Philips Arena, which is where Atlanta’s pro hockey and basketball teams (Atlanta Thrashers and Atlanta Hawks, respectively) play their home games.

In addition to it’s already massive output of a stadium and major newsroom sets where CNN films several of it’s news channels, the Center also houses the Omni Hotel, a large food court and has it’s own MARTA station stop.

As a completely useless, but fun fact, the atrium escalator that is used to transport visitors on the CNN tour has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest freestanding (supported only at the ends) escalator in the world.

Benefits

Minor

You’ve been on the tour and you’ve got access to one of the night time reporters. Woot.

Get a small, 15 second story mentioned on air as a rumor once a month (Requires a Manipulation + Persuasion -2 roll).

Sizable

You’ve either bullied your way in with some of the night security, or you’ve made friends in the right places. Either way, you can hear about some weird shit that’s made news shortly before it’s going to hit the airwaves, without necessarily needing to put too much effort.

As Minor; As long as you have this benefit, you are assumed to have “Learn about breaking stories early” indefinitely; Get tickets to any home game for the basketball or hockey teams

Major

You’ve done enough – you’ve met the right people, schmoozed the right Moes and hammed it up with the “haves” (even if you’re a have-not). You have liberties that most in the CNN Center, let alone normal citizens, couldn’t even dream of.

As Sizable; You can run local advertisements for a business in prime-time spots that normally, businesses don’t have access to (gain +5% revenue increases for your business(es) as long as you have this benefit); You have access to a small bug placed in the broadcasting circuitry of CNN Center’s satellite and cable feeds, though CNN Center has a backup generator, setting off this bug will temporarily disrupt CNN’s feeds for 15 seconds – just long enough, sometimes...
