Description

As far away from the glittering lights of the Strip as you can get, past the grimy windows and hopeless faces of North and South Las Vegas are the barrens. The desert is considered a National Park by the government but few who have had to experience consider it any thing worth protecting. Those unlucky enough to live outside the city do so in shacks and broken down RVs. Animals of all species prowl outside the city, on four legs as well as two. It’s not unusual to here howls and not be able to tell if they’re human or coyote. Getting stuck outside the city could spell death, for mortals and Kindred alike. There’s more than one story of someone trying to travel over the desert to California and never arriving. In fact, the story is so common that one wonders if any one ever does make it.

Mojave desert

The Mojave desert encompasses 25,000 square miles that spans four states, covering southeastern and central California, southern Nevada, southwestern Utah and northwestern Arizona in a vast desert waste land. While there are miles upon miles of sand dunes where there’s no shelter or chance for water for the most part the Mojave is covered with scrub brush and stunted, leafless trees with twisted limbs. The temperatures in the desert are extreme, ranging from well above 100F at noon to below 0 after the sun’s set depending on season and elevation. As you can imagine this is not an area that you want to find yourself alone and lost in.
