Background

1898 Aria Sanura, born Miriam Lahoud, was born and raised in Alexandria not long after Egypt had become a de facto British colony.

1903 Her father was a wealthy attaché with the colonial government and a Coptic Christian, a position which allowed him a degree of wealth, status, and privilege sufficient to see to his children’s education. Aria was educated, first at home by her mother, the youngest child in a characteristically large, strict, and devout family.

1922 In part because of her natural intelligence, in part from a desire to “modernize” his views, and in part simply because she was his favorite, "Miriam" was reluctantly permitted to attend school with the children of the colonial elites, ultimately journeying to London itself.

Intoxicated by the radically different world of London during the roaring twenties, and relatively free, for the first time in her life, from the rigid faith and authoritarian paternalism of her family, it wasn’t long before Aria found herself in a spot of trouble. Caught inebriated and in a compromising position with an English boy by her father on an unannounced visit, she was dragged bruised and in tears back to Egypt. She was forcibly married, as quickly as her parents could arrange it, and then cut off from all familial ties and affection save the unwanted attentions of a much older and heavy handed husband.

1926 Simeon Rashidi, a Khaibit vampire, would find her in Alexandria soon after. Rashidi was of a line that had served and sired in tandem with a parallel line of Ventrue for centuries, and he had come to Alexandria seeking a childe of Egyptian blood to complete a new cycle. The young, sorrowing, English-educated bride, meekly struggling to accept her role, soon caught his attention. She was claimed. Her sire gave her the name Sanura, or “kitten,” being amused by the nips and scratches of her terrified and disbelieving fledgling rebelliousness, and even more so by her reaction to any kind of affection or kindness after the last few years of her mortal life. He brought her with him back to London where she was raised, trained, and educated alongside Jared Deuchamps, the Ventrue fledgling in the parallel line, and given the first name of “Aria” by his master to symbolize the bond.

1931 The arrival of a fanatical coterie of Lancea Sanctum leads to war and the destruction of both their sires, driving the two childer to flee the country for America. They arrive in Atlanta by the end of that year, the chilly reception awarded to wanderers and newcomers slightly mollified by their assertions of refugee status and the relative strength of the Ordo Dracul at the time.

1932-1940 Aria begins to cautiously branch out into society from behind the limelight of the much more social and gregarious Jared. She achieves her first chrysalis and begins to slowly adapt and become more comfortable as time, effort, and the example of Jared begin to counteract some of the influences of her mortal life.

1941 Struggling to study and adapt in a time of growing political unrest in Kindred society, things ultimately came to a head when the ambitious Jared was attacked and beaten into torpor, possibly at the behest of the Carthian Movement. Aria secrets away his body, but in light of his standing orders and personal ambitions she refuses to allow him to be artificially revived.

1945 Groundless, grieving, and guilty over the loss of Jared, Aria begins to fade out of Kindred society. The loss of Prince Winchester and the destruction of Dexter Hepburn in the rise of the Carthian Experiment prove to be the last straws and she soon slips into torpor herself.

1994 Aria is revived from torpor at the behest of the newly risen Jared.

2007 Since then she has primarily focused on her studies within the Academy, leaving matters of influence and politics largely to Deuchamps. She has of late been starting to make movements for a more active roll within the Clan though it remains to be see how concerted or successful an effort this will be.

Chronicle

In the period preceeding and following the collapse of Anthony Anderson's Carthian praxis Aria was involved in or rumored to have been involved in several high and low profile events, ranging from meeting with werewolves to attacking and torporing Kindred in elysium itself and being publically stripped of "Citizenship."

Rumors suggest that Aria was somehow involved with Alexandra Morgan, the childe of Araseli Luna, a relationship which may have involved partial viniculum or intimicy. Whatever the case, after Alexandra was put to Final Death by Anthony Anderson, Aria's behavior began to darken noticably, particularly towards members of the ruling Carthian Movement. There was much speculation that Aria might have been seeking to avenge her supposed lover, either against Anthony or the Carthians or any of the other varying members of group called to judge Morgan. Aria's rapid degeneration and more... beasital personality, a side effect of Coil research and perhaps a darker therepudic medium, fed these rumors, as did a series of low level public incidents with Anthony in the nights after his loss of praxis. For a time she took to harassment and insinuation against the Carthians but has quieted in recent nights.
