Hunting Rules for Suspire
Hunting is a very simple process on our server. During character creation, you should have in the Details section of your sheet, selected what sort of hunting your character does to feed nightly. The command to hunt is !hunt or !shunt. (Nosferatu use !shunt if they are hunting in a social manner).
There are three basic hunting categories. Each method of hunting has their own set of possible modifiers.
Physical Hunting
These are your muggers, your strong arms, your sneaks, and your sandman. They hunt on humans in some physical manner. Some example ways and their modifiers:
- Strength + Stealth - This method entails sneaking up on unsuspecting prey and overpowering them to feed.

If you would like your character feed in some other way, please see a storyteller for appropriate modifiers.
Only one modifier from each discipline can be applied to your hunting roll.
Example: A kindred hunting socially cannot apply a bonus for Majesty (•), (•••) and (••••), but would have to choose which of the three to apply.
Universal Positive Modifiers:
- + - Haven Location grants +1 die per level owned.
- Feeding on animals in any method grants a +2 modifier on the hunt roll.
There are also other possible positive modifiers, depending on how your vampire feeds, such as Specialties and Equipment. These should be cleared with a Storyteller before use, however.
Universal Negaive Modifiers:
- -2 - If you are attempting to keep your identity while you feed hidden from other Kindred.
- -3 to -5 if you are attempting to find a specific target.
Important Stuff:
Hunting difficult will be determined by the domain in which you hunt, this should be established at character creation and any change in choice of hunting domain needs to be brought to the STs in #gamehelp.
Also, it should be noted that if you decide to 'hunt' for another individual, you may only do so using your character's personal Herd or Retainers. Any play that revolves around hunting or providing blood (not Kindred vitae) for another vampire should be brought to a Storyteller's attention so that they can direct you in the right direction.
Finally, some areas of the city are easier to feed in then others. To represent this, more difficult areas require a higher number of successes on your hunting roll. It is also possible to overfeed an area, and make it more difficult to hunt. It is noticable when a domain is sufferring from increased difficulties, so here is an easy to understand chart for the "danger level" of overhunting:
- +1 from the base successes needed: Feeding is a little more difficult, probably from a strain of bad luck, or just new Kindred in the area, this is generally not a "problem".
- +2 from the base successes needed. Feeding is definately becoming more difficult. Prey seems to be elusive, or just generally not of particular tastes. Kindred of the area generally can assume that it's becoming dangerous to feed in this area, and over-feeding is a distinct possibility.
- +3 from the base successes needed. Feeding is nearing impossible. Mortals look pretty sickly in just about any "main" area for the best hunting possibilities, and if it's not rectified, there may be mortal consequences from anemia or other similar problems very soon.
- +4 or greater from the base successes needed. Your ass is probably grass, hunters are going to notice this, along with the hospitals and anywhere else that deals with blood transfusions. Your city officials are probably going to be pissed.
