Foreword on the  Setting of Our Game
The Suspire.org Chronicle plays in a modified setting for Vampire the Requiem. We’ve created this guide as an introduction to the changes you can expect in our modified setting. Our wiki holds more in-depth details of these changes which we encourage you to read as well.

Setting Expansion
The game is set in Las Vegas, which exists within a larger southwestern territory known in our game as “Hold”. Several territories or “Holds” make up a “Kingdom”. The power structure in the Kingdom is set up in a feudal manner where the Prince (of a city, like Las Vegas, the city where our game takes place) answers to the Overlord (of a Hold, such as "Tomesha Valley", the Hold in which Las Vegas resides) who then in turn answers to the King (of a Kingdom, such as the "Kingdom of the Americas" in our game). This setting change allows the game to take place on the scale and in the scope implied in the Requiem books (hundreds of vampires) while accounting for the average number of players in any game (ten to twenty).

Covenant Alterations
Given the often small scale of online games, we’ve altered the feeling of the covenants in such a way as to facilitate play without limiting player options. We’ve removed the polarizing aspects of the covenants and allow a more fluid method of being a member of more than one covenant. In our game characters often have political and religious leanings, so an Invictus could easily attend Crone rites or a Lancea Sanctum sermon. More importantly, because our game has been scaled more appropriately Kindred realize that they can no longer absolutely hate and refuse to deal with covenants that do not agree with their political or religious views. Vampires still disagree and feel strongly about their beliefs, but they also acknowledge that necessity forces them to sometimes work together to accomplish goals - even if that goal is only to utterly ruin someone else.

Each covenant has been given a page on our wiki which goes into details about the general organization and views of that covenant in the Hold. We request strongly that you read over these before going further: Now on to the...
Rules for Character Creation
The rest of this page serves as a guide to help you with the rules that are specific to character creation. As there are quite a few, it's recommended that you open this page in a tab after you've clicked the "Create New Character" link that should show on your sidebar after you've registered and logged in to the Suspire website.

General Information
Character Age Skull Spacer Characters may not be younger than 18 years of age or even appear to be under the age of 18 (yes, we think pedophilia is sick, nor are we okay with statutory rape and no one is going to cater to anything like that on this game). It is non-negotiable. Players submitting for characters that are considered "Underage" will have their accounts banned and their IP and any available information (including submission that triggered the response) reported to the ASACP and FBI for Child Pornography.

Bloodlines Skull Spacer Bloodlines are not permitted as a player's first character. No exceptions.

Allowed Character Types Skull Spacer No mortals are approved; we allow only vampires and ghouls with an IC domitor. Any changes to this will be in it's appropriate, designated section below.

Please make sure you view the House Rules for the situational rules that apply to your character. We don't expect you to know every House Rule, but we do expect that if you have a merit or Discipline on your sheet that you've at least glanced to see what House Rules we may have on it.

Notes for Vampires
Character Type (Nomad or Recent Embrace) Skull Spacer Your character can either be a recent embrace or a nomad travelling to Las Vegas from other cities in the Tomesha Valley. As a nomad, your options are limited to these starting cities. If your character is not a recent (in-game) embrace, then we strongly encourage you view our Lineage page to select a sire. If assistance with this step is needed, a Storyteller can be consulted in #gamehelp.

Creation Skull Spacer Vampire characters get 50XP total and 1 Anywhere DotWhat the heck is an Anywhere Dot?
Basically, an Anywhere Dot is exactly what it sounds like; you can put it anywhere. The catch is, it has to go onto your sheet before XP Spends.
.

Disciplines at Creation Skull Spacer Only 25XP Maximum can be spent into Disciplines. Characters can only use 1 of their initial Discipline dots towards an out-of-clan discipline. Clan-specific Disciplines (such as Majesty or Dominate) require a Mentor merit, with that discipline on it. Finally, if playing a bloodline, your bloodline discipline is considered in-clan, but you must have at least 2 dots from your pre-bloodline discipline-spread (which can be purchased as in-clan) after XP Spends.

Age of Vampire Skull Spacer Characters embraced earlier than 1900 are not approved for new players. Making a character with an embrace date earlier than 1900 requires Storyteller approval prior to creation. Furthermore, characters must have been a vampire for over one year prior to their arrival in Las Vegas (unless you have an In-Game sire!), which means no "embrace and drop" concepts will be permitted.

Covenant Bonuses Skull Spacer This is applicable for all covenants. We have altered the covenant bonuses for each covenant. Please view the House Rules page for your covenant for more information. Characters which start in a covenant gain an Anywhere DotWhat the heck is an Anywhere Dot?
Basically, an Anywhere Dot is exactly what it sounds like; you can put it anywhere. The catch is, it has to go onto your sheet before XP Spends.
(in addition to the one that all characters get during creation).

Humanity Losses, Derangements and Banes Skull Spacer You may drop up to 3 dots of Humanity at creation to gain +5XP For each drop. You may choose up to two Banes for +3XP each. Derangement checks will be rolled for a Storyteller during Approval. We allow Banes to be substitutions for Derangements.

Resources and Starting Cash (Expense Dots) Skull Spacer You can find more information on the Resources merit and the "costs" for equipment on the House Rules page, under the Merits section for Resources. It will tell you your starting Expense Dots so you know what you can spend at creation on items from our Equipment Charts which you can also find on the House Rules menu on the main website above.

Notes for Ghouls
Ghoul characters are currently restricted approvals.
Creation Skull Spacer Ghoul characters get 15XP total, 1 dot from their Domitor's Clan Attributes and 1 Anywhere DotWhat the heck is an Anywhere Dot?
Basically, an Anywhere Dot is exactly what it sounds like; you can put it anywhere. The catch is, it has to go onto your sheet before XP Spends.
.

Age of Ghoul Skull Spacer Ghouls should be "fresh"; a player character ghoul's first scene should be their being ghouled scene.

Morality Losses Skull Spacer You may drop up to 2 dots of Morality at creation to gain +5XP For each drop. Derangement checks will be rolled for a Storyteller during Approval.

Once you've completed all of the sections of the website, press submit and then sign on to the IRC server. Once on the server, join the #gamehelp channel to speak to a Storyteller about your sheet and go through the approval process (where Storytellers check your dots, and your overall sheet for appropriateness).
